Anyone paint their interior trim

Not sure if this should be in the paint section, just wanted to see if anyone has painted the interior trim pieces (dash, center council, etc). I hate silver!! I found a guy who painted it blue and it looked "OK.".. I was thinking flat black or gloss black. I looked at the dash overlay kits from American muscle, love the brushed black look but the fit doesn't seem perfect and I'm getting the raxiom touchscreen kit so the overlay kit isn't compatible with it. Wondering if it looks cheap

I had a 2010 and had the center console painted by a body shop. I thought it looked great. Sorry for the crappy pic, but it was from an iphone, so it's to be expected.

Maybe there's a reason you can't find much on this topic. Seems like not very many people want to cheapen the look of their interior...

I'm not trying to cheapen it, I'm trying to personalize this. Which is why I posted this to see if it looks cheap or not. Don't worry, I'm not doing all those red accents... That looks cheap IMO. i think if the vinyl is done properly it can look clean. I might pick up some 3M vinyl and have my buddy help me out and see how it all looks.

I painted the inserts on the door cards a gunmetal to match the centre console trim, just to break up the acres of black on the door. A subtle change but well worth it and easy to do as well.

That sounds like a decent idea. Do you have a pic?

Here's a quick snapshot. The flash makes the grey look a lot lighter than it is but you get the idea. It is in fact a perfect match to the dark grey centre console trim. It took me a couple tries with different vinyl paints to get that exactly right.

I used old chequebook pages as masking around the door card inserts, as you can't remove them. Worked very well and was easy.

The colour is SEM # 17113 GMC colour code 7701 graphite.

SEM is as top quality interior vinyl paint as you can get. It has very low odor and very quick dry times with easy application.
