Car feels slower after mods????????

Well all I did was install my shaftmasters aluminum driveshaft and lethal performance over axle pipes. I don't think the car is necessarily louder but a loud more raspy, actually raspy isn't the right word. Splattery, thats prolly a closer description to it. Also added my rear KONI shocks.

Don't really know why it would be slower from these mods but for some reason, it doesn't feel like it has the get up and go like it had. Once you get the rpms up and stomp it, it still moves out don't get me wrong. Just seems slower.

Does that make any sense at all? Am I just paranoid?

Maybe stiffer suspension is making the car squat & go less.

Not "get up & go". (really get down in the back, then go)

Before when you stomped it, your car may have moved more which gave you the feeling of a little more whiplash effect than with the new shocks?

Its the Lethal over axel pipes. I felt the same way after installing them. Lose some back pressure which means some low end torque.

Well the stock pipes are only resonators they aren't that restrictive, only the huge pinches in the pipe might be restrictions. But I don't think the back pressure thing has anything to do with anything really.

Maybe so, but I know that I immediately felt a difference down low as soon as I pulled out of the shop. Paired with my Borla S types it produces a decent amount of RASP under load until I get in the upper RPMS. I'm on the fence about putting the stock over axels back on. Only reason I don't is because I hate failed mods.

I saw someone else note in a thread "Ghost Knock", that after some mods they had a loose exhaust connection that they think was causing the engine to detect a false (ghost) knock and then pull timing.

Maybe a possibility? Go make sure everything is tight underneath the car!

Hey MooseDawg, What did you end up doing? Does it still feel slower?

I was actually out of town until yesterday and just got back in the first time. But yeah, I feel like its not as fast as it was. And as for ghost knock, would I be able to do some data logging and see if they see any knocking going on?

Update from my end.

Did the DSS drive shaft this weekend and threw in a JBA x pipe. Pipe had to be heated and hit with a hammer so it wouldn't rub on trans brace. But after all was said and done the car feels awesome. For whatever reason I have no rasp with the x pipe and leathal over axels with my Borla S types. Cant see why the stock H would have been causing it but my car feels so much better now. Anyway, maybe you should ditch your stock mid pipe and see how that goes. Hope it works out.
