Exhaust break in period

Hey guys I have a set of Magnaflow street series axle backs that I got about 1000 miles ago. I have heard of an exhaust break in period where everything in the mufflers settle and the tone gets deeper and louder. I was wondering if you guys have heard of this break in period?

A lot of people claim this does happen. I think it's mainly the operators ears breaking in. What is there exactly that would be inside an aftermarket exhaust that would break in, combust, break down or change over a little time? It seems there's mostly high heat metal with chambers made from more high heat metal and metal tubes? Tell me how that's going to break in and change its size and shape enough to sound any different.
Maybe if there was some insulation stuffed in there that burned up or blew out the back...but that's not the case.

Carbon building up and coating the I side of the muffler

Exhaust break in period

Muffler internals are coat with oil to prevent rust from happening, and in some cases it's fiberglass...
That's why sometimes with a new exhaust system you get a burning smell...

Aha! I feel stupid now. There does get a lot of carbon build up that would change things internally. I just had the pleasure of cleaning the chrome vanity trim on the rear bumper exhaust cutouts on my wife's Fusion and even after only six months it was caked on pretty thick. It took 20 minutes using 000 steel wool.

Hahaha well clear ears will probably make it sound better. Also the reason I say that it breaks in the mufflers is because magnaflows are wrapped in the inside with insulation so it's probably just burning off and settling all the excess material.

Also if anyone wants to. I'm wanting to trade for some roush axle backs. I'm wanting something louder. These magnaflow streets sound great but I wish they were just a tad louder.

Whitecali I don't have any videos, I haven't got into having a YouTube account. I prob need to do that at some point.

Rap, we run the same except I still have my cats. I can imagine it's even more awesome on an off-road set up. One of these days when it's not my dd I will go that route. I still think it sounds killer. It's a got a great tone, nasty yet not out of control.

Yeah I may just remove my resonators. I have an off-road xpipe and the magnaflows and I just wish it was a bit louder.
