California Special Spoiler

I have a 2011 GT with the small stock rear spoiler and I was looking at getting a California special spoiler. Will a cali spoiler cover the bolt holes from the stock one or will I have to go with a gt500 spoiler? I know I am going to have to drill some but I want to make sure it will cover the factory holes before I buy one. Any feedback would be awesome. Thanks everybody in advance!

The factory spoiler has 4 holes and with the c/s spoiler it requires to drill another 4. So to answer you question, yes it will cover the factory holes since they are going to be used with the spoiler

No problem, but once you go with the c/s spoiler you can't go back. If you plan to change spoilers later in the future, your going to have 4 uncovered holes.

What about if you already have the c/s spoiler and want to go to a gt500 or roush spoiler?

The roush spoiler you have to drill into the side of the car. So that's really no going back once you go that route lol

Too bad you don't have a green car and lived closer. We could have swapped trunks.

I think I'm going to keep it just in case I need it for anything. Thanks for asking though.

No problem. Had to ask. I have a white 5.0 and I've been wanting to paint my stock spoiler black. Too bad nobody out there has a black 5.0 and wants to trade stock spoilers with me.

Yeah, I've looked on eBay and they sell for about 120 bucks. They have all different colors.

I should just pull my stock spoiler off myself and take it in just to have it painted then put it back on myself. What do you guys think? $100 or so just to have it painted black?

Well you would want a fast turn around since you will have this madness open to the elements

California Special Spoiler

Maybe dumb question, but those with reverse cameras in the spoiler, can the c/s even have em?

My bad forgot how the c/s looked, doesn't look like you can

Cmon dj, never say never. It's just a matter of how involved you wanna get! I've thought the same thing, I have rear camera in the spoiler and prefer the pedestal CS type. My thought was to get a license plate frame with camera then route the wiring to that instead of the spoiler. Sounds plausible right?

I have same setup as you, definitely looks better with the c/s style. Yea guess it is doable. Lol..Always can rig it a certain way. Wonder if any of the c/s cars have the backup, even with the navigation.

You can go to home depot and get a rubber grommet/plug for those holes for like $3.00

How much did you pay to have your wing painted?

That's true about the grommet. I would still be worried about people messing with it though. I paid 80 bucks to have it painted, but a whole separate story is that I took it to them to cut and buff once I mounted it. Well they messed up and hit the old color. So I had to pull it off and let them repaint it. So I'm rocking my stock one again until they get it repainted.

I'm going to buy a GT/CS spoiler in the next few weeks; is the official Ford OEM GT/CS pedestal spoiler ABS or made from something more like fiberglass? I know most (if not all) of the aftermarket ones aren't two-toned, but my car is black so the two tones would end up being black and black anyway. Thanks guys!

The OEM is ABS primed grey ready to paint, it is higher quality than the Ebay ones though. All the black is textured to match all the rest of the textured plastic.

Not all GT/CS spoilers come with the back-up camera. I chose to mount one down by my license plate rather than pay the price of a new factory spoiler with the camera and have it all painted.

Thanks! I think I'm still going to go with the cheaper ones, since the dealership quoted me at $368 for the pedestal spoiler, whereas I can get one elsewhere for $140. If it's too flimsy, I can always go back and get a factory one later. For now, I think I'll save that $220 for the next upgrade in line.

I like these best.

Bigger than the stock, and has a back up camera built in:

Buy a pre-painted one from AM. I think you'll have to drill 2 holes and use the stock holes.

I wants CS but currently I don't have one at all and the idea of starting with no previous holes to help guide me make me wonder if want to tackle it myself. Now i could start one from the inside and then setup the templates on the spoiler from there but it's still going to be painful drilling into my baby.

Yeah but the ones I've seen look like 4 strips of paper. Not that I couldn't make a better one if needed.

I would just have the dealership do it then. It cost me about $175 for the dealership to paint and install it.

For your situation, I would buy the CS spoiler and take it to a body shop for the install. It can't be that much for the body shop to drill the 4 holes and install. Buy the painted CS spoiler from AM. I love mine!
