I bought my 2013 with Gibson ab's. They sounded ok. I then installed an x pipe which didn't do anything to the sound. Next was deleting the resonators which livened it up, but not by much. Next I swapped the Gibson's out for Roush ab's and MAN WAS IT LOUD! Harley Davidson loud! Race car loud, just like the video of the Black car/orange stripes shown above. Next was to reinstall the factory resonators in hopes that it would 'calm the beast just a bit' which it did, but just way too much. Roush ab's are great if you're looking for something better than average aftermarket, but not crazy aggressive. I'm going to the shop tomorrow to have the stock resonators replaced with Dynomax Race Bullitt mini's. If this doesn't do it, I'll just live with it. Unless you can physically stand next to someone's car and hear it, you can't be 100% sure that it's what you're looking for. Good luck bro!

I have o/r x pipe as well. It's probably a little louder than most would like. It's only "too" loud when you want it to be. I just love the sound these mufflers make.

I also just installed the Kooks Axle Backs in my 2014 GT/CS. Before purchasing them, I read many users who said there were little to no drone with them. However, I am getting drone between the 1500-2000rpm range. The mufflers sound awesome but not liking the drone very much. Anyone have any suggestions?

Over the years I've had flowmaster and Gibson and they both had drone. I've also had corsa and roush and had zero drone. Some people don't mind it. I couldn't stand it. I've got roush now and they sound great. You can drive with the windows up at 70 and carry on a normal conversation. If you end up going with roush axle backs, keep those resonators on. Cut out the resonators and its NASCAR 24-7.

+1111 on the nascar. That's how my borla Ataks were with no resonators. I now have magnaflow street catback.

I have only Roush axle back and my buddy has the same thing and just got an x-pipe with no cats and it sounds horrible. Maybe with the cats it sounds better. I love just the mufflers tho. A+ by me I wouldn't trade except for Borla Atak

Smile Borla axle back ATAK

Based on great advice here I just installed the Borla ATAK's!
Fit & finish is outstanding and the packing was exceptional. My GT sounds mean and it is a really blast to drive it and see heads turn. I feel an increase in power and am getting better fuel economy. They are expensive but well worth every penny!

Go with the Borla ATAK's - sound great at idle and even better when you get on it - no drone at cruising speeds. They are the best!

I have these with cats and resonators but with a magnaflow true x pipe and it sounds amazing. Seriously turns heads everywhere I go.

I have always thought you couldn't go wrong with Borla on these cars. Really gives them some nice rumble. It all depends on how loud you wanna go

Videos don't do 100% justice but AM and youtube can give you an idea of comparisons.

So from what I've been reading, Borla has made them so they sound good at high rpm's without cats. Where as most think roush without cats sound like a nascar race.

Yea. Alot of people who ran high-flow catted X and Roush ABs, reported extremely loud tones when over 3k RPM. So it depends what you like. I prefer, not attracting the wrong attention. lol

Honestly all this is subjective. You really have to hear these setups on your own in person. Form your own opinions and make your decision based on what you like . I've had 3 different setups and liked them all, but in different ways.

I definitely agree with hearing for myself. I just don't have cash and time to where I can play around with each one. And not many guys around me that I've seen with aftermarket setups. Met 1 guy with roush ab setup but was a sixer. That don't help me any lol. I think I'll swap mine out eventually so I can listen to a different tune.

It's nice people on here like talking about their ride and are cool about it.

^ yeah I hope you didn't think I was being a dick. I read a ton of threads when guys were asking about exhausts myself, watched a ton of YouTube vids. End of the day everyone has a different idea of what a good sound and volume is. And even if you say "I want it loud" that has a different meaning to different people. I think mine is loud, but not out of control. Some would disagree both ways. Lol

My pype bombs are a cheap option for one of the deepest rumbles from an axle back. Drones 2000-2200, screams at WOT, and is calm when you want it to be. Cold start up is nice and loud too.

I have these too, the Steeda/Kooks axlebacks - bought them with 20% off during one of the Steeda sales. They sound good and are really well made with really nice looking tips.

Ive got a manual with 3.73's, stock cats(for now) and I don't get any drone at all. At highway speeds they are almost silent, but I dont spend much time in 1.5-2K rpm range with the 3.73's

I've got single tip GT500 AB with GT500 OTA pipes with no resonators and I think it sounds great. Loud enough for me with no drone. On a cold startup it's as loud as my Roush AB with resonators that I had on the car initially. Once warm it is quieter than the Roush was but still sounds great.

I currently run an after cat X pipe, resonator delete and GT 500 (dual tips) axle back mufflers. If I had to do it over...would go with GT 500 quad tips just for the coolness of it.

Try listening to these set ups in person. Videos don't really capture the full effect.
