No oil service access panel.

Ok so I bought my 14 brand new. I took it in for the free oil change at 5000 miles and now I'm doing another one at 10k myself.

I know I've read about the oil service access panel that you're supposed to remove in order to get to the drain plug. However I just noticed my car does not have one.

So either it's not supposed to have one or they dealer never put it back after they changed the oil at 5000!

Help me out here. Which is it do yall suspect????

There is no panel covering the drain plug. You're mistaken.

Mine has a swing down plastic panel. Unscrew about 4 small bolts and it swings downward, opening towards the front of the car. It doesn't come all the way off. Then you can access the oil filter and drain bolt. It's rather large too. Not something I would expect a dealership to remove completely.

It's the second panel back, not the one that attaches directly to the front bumper cover. IIRC, there are three bolts with arrows molded into the cover pointing at them. Get ready for a mess as soon as you loosen that filter. I think with the car level and higher off the ground that panel will swing out of the way, but not on short ramps under the front only.

haha yeah I dropped the damn filter when I changed it and oil went everywhere. I will be trying the ziploc bag method next time.

Unscrewing the oil filter while it's inside a large zip lock or plastic grocery bag. It sounds like a nice hack to keep things neat and clean but it's tricky cause it gets slippery and clumsy in process. It works decent though if you're cautious.

No oil service access panel.

Yeah, I've had mixed luck with the zip-lock bag method. Since the last oil change I've fitted the Boss 302 engine oil cooler that fits under the oil filter moving it outward and forward slightly. Hoping (besides cooling the oil) that it locates the filter where the drippage can be more easily caught in the pan instead of that panel!
