Low dyno #s

I just got my car custom dyno tuned and I only pulled 381 HP with Jlt intake, Accufab 84.5 TB, Lethal H-Pipe and Roush A/B. My cars only got 7k miles on it and I mever drive it hard. The dyno guy is one of the best in this area for mustangs (Brad from Southern Stables). Does that seem about right? He said he notices higher #s out of more broken in motors.

The JLT intake, throttle body, and mufflers are worth nothing for power. The throttle body and intake were money not well spent.

Auto or manual?

Is this through an auto? If so I'd say the numbers are fine. I wouldn't look too much into it anyway.

7k miles is more than broken in. Don't get caught up in dyno numbers. See where you trap speed in quarter mile ends up. Was Brad your tuner? Maybe try email/log tune. I personally believe live road tuning is best.

He probably gave you corrected #'s in SAE. If you want a # to make you feel better tell him to give you STD # printout

Numbers mean nothing, they're virtually arbitrary. The point of a dyno is showing you went from X to Y after adding mods; you're more concerned with gains than the end number.

If my coyote puts down 380 stock and i add an intake and tune and am at 400, its no different than a coyote that dynod 300 stock and is now at 320 with the same mods. Obviously the numbers should be within some ballpark, but again, its mostly arbitrary.

Yes, engines are "broken in" by 7k miles. However, not all are at their optimal place between lowest friction and high compression resulting in peak hp.

Some engines do take longer to break in than others, based on starting with a little more friction than others, then driving style does affect break in. He "never drives it hard", meaning it would take longer to fully break in.

Never taken it to redline? Why have a mustang more or less put aftermarket parts on it?

Low dyno #s

You don't have to redline a car to enjoy it...

There's a distinct difference between beating on it and running it hard. Plenty of people track their cars with more miles than I flat out drive mine ha! If peeps are living above 4k 90% of a race then I don't think short bursts of calculated jubilation are a problem

as said, dyno numbers mean nothing really, take it to the track, trap speed is indicative of power

Dynoing a car, to me, is basically just seeing your power band...

The first time I put my Porsche on the dyno I got horribly low #'s. Then the guys realized they had screwed up & had it in 4 wheel mode (the front rollers & wheels were rolling too), b/c
1. it was a Cayman S Turbo, so they were thinking turbo = awd... (wrong)
2. they knew Porsche's don't like having just 2 wheels spinning, it throws traction control errors (you have to disable PSM - Porsche Stability Management)

Anyway, point is not only do things vary from dyno to dyno, how its calibrated, etc..
but you also sometimes have operator errors!! Some shops have a dyno and barely know how to use it!!

Nice.

My friend's 2011 GT, Brembo Pkg, 3.73s, M6

Stock tune w/ Roush Axleback
389.59 RWHP / 360.29 TQ

93 Bama STREET w/ Roush Axleback
398.27 RWHP / 377.35 TQ

He has since added an off road x pipe from UPR and a JLT CAI. We're going to get it dynod again in a week or two to see if those provided any gains. Most likely going to try STREET tune again, and then the PERFORMANCE or RACE.

Yeah that makes no sense that a Bama tuned car would make almost 400 while I have intake/exhaust/TB/offroad makes 381 with a custom tune

Make sure you do some logging. I had a bama tune before I went dyno tune and it was night/day difference. Dyno tune made so much more power. Just take the time with bama to log your driving and they should get it right.
