I had to have the trans rebuilt after Procal install at a dealer, due to the infamous whine. The Procal didn't even figure into the discussion about coverage, it was more convincing them that stock 5.0s don't sound like they have a straight cut Procharger on them when they are driving down the road.

Nonetheless, no problems since and results in sig. I have a blower now so, it's goodbye Procal but, it was worth every penny of the 280 bucks I paid.

You have a reduced powertrain warranty after the procal install. It becomes the same as your B2B, and is picked up by Ford Racing. So yes, warranty repairs can happen still

Hi, what is the infamous whine? And Auto or MT82? Only infamous trans problem I know about is the lockout of 3rd gear on hard pulls in the MT82 and the notchy feel in the cold the gear additive now helps out with.

Procal is the name of the hand held tuner, not the tune. I ran the FRPP tune in my 2013 before track Cal came out. And as said it improved power at low and mid range. Better throttle response and driveability. Actually increased fuel economy 1-2mpg. Redline increased to 7000 and started having clutch pedal to floor issues and needed to install shift light to avoid hitting Rev limiter. Engine accelerated quicker above 4K as well. After that installed FRPP supercharger and ford tune. Then had random misfire problem and ate the cats. Dealer covered cats under warranty. Having said that he was very familiar with ford and Roush superchargers and probably cut me a break. I had installed the 624hp kit myself, which is not covered by FRPP warranty and should have voided factory warranty as well. So it depends on dealer. I don't think they are going to be as ammeniable with aftermarket tune. But as also said the ford tune does not allow for changes for other mods.

If you have the FRPP tune & Automatic... have you played around with the car in "S" mode? (not manually shifting gears, but just letting the car shift them for you)

I drive with my car in that mode most of the time. It is a lot more fun.

I don't think many people experiment with this mode enough. The car is much more lively in that mode, with engine braking, exhaust gurgling/popping, etc...

Considering the Track Cal (MPN# M-14204-MGTTC) for my 14GT. My engine is totally stock and appears it's a safe tune. Maybe safe is the wrong term, guess what I mean the tune is written by Ford, gives me piece of mind I suppose. One more thing what is this track key? Is it used in conjunction with the Track Cal? Is the key a stand alone that is loaded with software and the tuner isn't needed?

EDIT: Just realized this is a year old thread.

The tune comes from Ford Racing, not Ford Motor Company. They are two different companies.

There really is almost no risk from tuning the car with any reputable company. People have long figured out what makes this thing tick and if your car is close to or out of 3/36, the PC warranty coverage is a moot point anyway, since it only picks up PT part of the B2B warranty for the duration of 3/36, not 3/36 from when you buy the tune. I have found no definitive evidence that having PC affects any other warranty coverage on the car, including the 5/60 Pt warranty.

It's the manuals that tend to implode bearings and whine, not the autos, btw...somebody asked back there.

Ford Racing tune is often kind of consider by many a stock upgrade. Its not frowned up as much as an aftermarket tune.

Doing the Track Cal with track key, could actually increase the value.

The track key has no software on it. You have to install the tune first. Then the car detects when you're using the trackkey and puts everything in a little bit more aggressive mode, turns down the traction control a little, and turns on the lopey idle which sounds like you cam'd your car.

I WISH they made a track key for auto's.

@ c_rizzle, I watched a vid on youtube of a guy installing the tune using the Track Cal, he made no mention of this key. Can the tune be active without the key?

Track Cal and Track Key are different things. And to further confuse, they are different for different models. And you throw in Procal as well and it's ????

Procal came first, a tuner box and flash tune for 11+ MGTs, stick and auto.

Track Key at the time was for B302s only and was basically a noisemaker that didn't do alot for real performance. The B302 used a dual path ECU so you could plug in the key and get the change from that.

About mid 13, the MGT cars started to use dual path ECUs and this allowed for the introduction of a new Track Key which contains, essentially the Procal tune and bunch of other nifty features like launch control.

Track Cal remains out there for the new MGT/Boss cars and uses the Procal tuner box and contains the same elements as the key but doesn't come with a separate key and must be written over to change back to stock like any other tuner. This is for the 11 to early 13 cars that can't support dual path but can be used on a dual path car the same way.

I think I have all this right...going from memory here.

As has been said, Procal is just the device you use to load FRPP tunes into the car. The track key allows the car to automatically switch tunes once the key is installed and can only be used on cars with dual path ecu's, which were boss 302s and most 14 gts. Its a nice feature to have, but FRPP track tunes still leave a little performance on the table. When i swotched from the FRPP tune for the 624hp supercharger, i gained more low end and 35 peak hp.

Well, I disagree on the leaving stuff on the table N/A. I got more out of the Procal than canned 93 tunes deliver on my last car.

A canned blower tune always leaves a little meat on the bone, has to so, you're definitely right there.

I know its an old thread but I just put the procal tune on my 2011 Brembo GT and it is fantastic. Im not sure why so many people they didnt notice anything. Pulls hard down low and burns the tires down. Throttle response and overall driving experience is easily worth 300 bucks. Anyway .. just my 2

Procal

Have had it installed two years now.
Can't tell much difference when I run cars with tunes from other reputable tuners.
There are a few others that speak highly of it on the site.
But ask 20 guys who has the best tune and you'll get 20 different answers.
If you go with a pro all though you can only install Frpp tune with it, so if you try to have another tune from say Lund, bro will need an act tuner or similar device. So a tune from one of these guys will cost about the same.

I run the TrackCal on my 13 GT and love it. When I bought it, FR required you to take it to the dealer to install it - with they did with no questions. You have the option of sending back the tuner for a $100 rebate but I chose to keep it. I've gone back to the regular tune a couple times (takes about 5 minutes) but missed the additional boost. It keeps up with the Bosses on the track in the straights. I did notice last time out I was getting a bit warm when beating in it so will probably look into an oil cooler and/or better radiator. I wish the oil temp gauge had numbers not just green/yellow/red.
