I've seen these installed in the mid pipe after the exhaust meets. Basically like the boss side pipe set up.

You can put them where ever you want. No real specific place for it. Most people who get cutouts get them so it can be as loud as possible, in which case put it on the midpipe as close to the headers as you can.

I'm planning to get some installed on mine and was going to do it at the first bend of the x-pipe before the actual x part and right after the headers so its basically a straight shot out of the headers when I open them up. If you have ever started your stand with just the headers on it sounds awesome! Best of luck

Good advice from everyone. I was planning on welding them after the longtubes on the x pipe but before the actual x. That way when I do have them open its pretty much open headers. but wouldn't that hurt the power gains that the x pipe puts out?

I would think the tune would need to be adjusted opened vs. closed.

Put them directly after the x pipe so you still get the exhaust scavenging benefits of the x pipe

sorry to bump this old thread. I was curious to know which will be better, a single or dual cutout? I seen a lot of post that only recommend to install 1.

Just want to get a final input as I am fixing to purchase my QTP cutouts. Greatly appreciated.

For the mustangs your better off with two since you have true duels. Often times if you have a y pipe setup you can do a single cutout at the y pipe. That is the setup I had on my trans am.

No idea why you'd only run 1 cutout, I imagine it'd sound awkward as well as effectively shorten the exhaust travel distance for half of the exhaust leaving the engine. Sounds like a horrible idea for a full dual exhaust car.

That's what I was thinking. I guess some people just like to throw a curve ball on some topics. I will post a video of my exhaust once I get them installed. I will weld them right after the X on off road pipe to take advantage of the little power.

Thanks folks!
