I agree. That's why I have so much respect for them. They have stayed true to the retro classic look. After the body update on the 2010 mustangs the challenger became the best looking modern muscle car, to me at least. I drove the three trim packages (V6, R/T, SRT) and I've been impressed at how well they manage their weight. Really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a Scat Pack and a Hellcat. Hopefully, Dodge will make an extreme track focused challenger, maybe call it a T/A. That would be awesome.

2015 challenger scat pack

I would too, but it depends on what they'd look like. But I wouldn't sell my Roush, that car has earned its place in my stable. Contrary to what most people think, I really like how the 04-06 GTOs look like. But from the teasers on the alpha Camaro, I'm liking what I'm seeing. They ruined the new gen Camaro, for me, I'm thinking they are about to redeem themselves on the alpha.

I test drove a 2015 scat pack before buying my 2014 gt. I enjoyed the challenger and its motor. Very torquey and smooth. Once moving, the challenger didn't feel any larger than my GT. Dodge hides the weight well, but I couldn't stop think how much better the car would be if it was 400-500lbs less.

I only went with my GT because it was 18k cheaper. I got a great deal on my GT and they weren't budging on the Challenger. If money was not object, I would have came with the Challenger.

If the hellcat weighed as much as a ZL1 or even a Trinity shelby, it would be a frigging monster. It's already a monster but with a diet that thing would be hard to kill.
And I agree. I was impressed the most about how the car hid it's weight.

Sooo, I recently test drove a 2015 SRT 392 485 hp 8 speed auto and it stickered at $51k it was fantastic, that was me trading in my 2006 V10 M5 yeah 507hp 7 speed smg, I have to say the challenger gave me goose bumps, much more visceral, I was looking for a SCAT PACK to test drive and couldn't find one so I drove to New Orleans to test one and there was a used 2012 Roush RS3 with 20k miles, for $37,000 and I feel like I got it for $32,000 real money, it's got a couple paint chips but it's in great shape, money no object I would have gone challenger with 485 over RS3 with 540hp it's a phase one factory tune I think it's a bit weak in the midrange so plan on doing the phase one upgrade to solve that, but I'm really enjoying the mustang so far.

But in real terms the Challenger is a big GT car that runs like billy-o I think with the 8 speed auto it makes up for the only 485 hp and feels very fast, dual mode exhaust sounds great, I don't regret spending $19k plus tax less and I'm going to enjoy the mustang upgrade process, buttttt... That Chally in tri coat black flake or granite silver is soooo nice, the interior upgrade for 15 is very good, track gauges, performance pages , very nice..

Nice. Hm, it's funny how close that compares to my situation when I bought my Roush. Which I'm pretty sure I'm the only challenger owner on the forum. But yea I was getting ready to get a 392 then the Roush came up and I took it. Less money and I'm really impressed with the car's performance.

Plenty of stock GT's running this fast or faster.

That was a badass Blazer. I wonder if he went with an H or X pipe and the Roush mufflers.

The SRT 392 is loaded with adjustable suspension better brakes and a few other gizmo's the scat pack is kind of like a base GT mustang but you can spec it up to be close to an SRT 392 performance is identical scat pack is just cheaper no frills cloth seats 6 speed blah blah both are bad ***, I honk the scat is aimed at a lower price point is all..

I bought my 14 from a Chevy dealer 35 miles south of me and the salesman gave me a call this past week and told me he had a trade in on a Corvette he would like to show me. It was a black 15 ScatPak with 2745 miles. When I bought my 14 it had 2769 miles and the guy traded it in on a 14 Corvette last year.
I went to see it and it was very nice! 485hp with an 8spd auto with 3.09's was an absolute joy to drive. I told him I'd have to have $30 the way my car sits right now................he told me he'd offer $28 and that would leave $18k difference. I thought about it and we talked for over 30 minutes..............I just don't want car payments. If the Challengers had a little better suspension with some decent sized tires/wheels I could be temped...................the car was really looking nice and was pretty much loaded with Navigation, Moon Roof and leather/swede interior.....................Oh, if it was a drag race between the ScatPak and my TrakPak...........I'm sure the Challenger would be at least 2/3 cars on the Mustang.......I'm still temped??

I wonder what the price gap is on that Blazer vs the Scat Pack. He sure scat-daddled out of the hole.

Scat

So the scat was $46,000 ish?? thats about what they cost new when loaded maybe one or two thousand more, and in my area I was offered invoice pricing + , one dealer thought he could get me associate pricing which is the same as dodge employees can get,, of course I never actually sat down to crunch the numbers with a finance manager so who knows but they certainly were not telling me it was sticker..

Yes, they were asking $45,500 and although I haven't really looked at new Challengers lately, they seem to be going for around $48/49 around here loaded.

In the state I live in there is a base model Scat Pack with the automatic transmission as it's only option and the sticker price on it is around $39,900 but they have it discounted though I don't know how much. It is also the B5 blue color that I like. This would be the car I would get if I could afford a new car right now. I don't want all of the options other than an automatic transmission.

I like the idea of a 392 cubic inch engine, I believe the 5.0 is too small although it is a great engine. The 392 delivers the torque to get that car moving but it is not nimble. I wish Ford would provide an engine in the 6.0 liter or bigger category. But then again I grew up in the 60's when big block engines were king.

I grew up with 7l and 8.5l motors, and my last drag car was 6.7l and still considered a SBF. I think the 5.0l is a great motor, and I'd like to see at least 5.4l as standard in the Mustang.

No kidding. A 427ci 7.0 liter coyote dohc motor would pretty much put everyone else (ohc motors) on the trailer. MMR is working on a tall deck block that will accept 6.0 liters of stroke.

Need to grab one of Mercury Racings in house designed 9.0 liter dohc motors that they run twin turbo's on for offshore racing and "big boy" boats. There 1350, 1550 and 1650 hp set ups with #8 drives are virtually bullet proof. They make so much torque they were breaking blades off billet props... Lol
