If it was that easy then I wouldn't ask the question. It was literally underneath my air intake upside down collecting water.

Can never be sure buying used. All it takes is for someone to know somebody with a body shop. Everything done off the books. Then trade the car in.

You don't have to go through all that trouble. Carfax doesn't have to show the accident for 3 months. Someone crashes a car gets it fixed real quick even on the books and sells it immediately and the poor bastard that buys it gets a crashed car that has no record of it being crashed until it well after the fact and in his posession. Happened to me on an 06 GT. That I bought from a dealership...

A few years back I purchased a car from a big dealer, where the salesman owned the car. It was beautiful, clean carfax, ran perfect. After owning it a while, I noticed a few little things. Come to find out, the entire drivers side had been smashed up. Totally smucked up...
Who has the ability to do that? The guy at the dealership. He knows all the people, access to the parts, everything.
I have promised him a black eye if I ever see him again. Damn liar. Cost me about $5k on his lies...

So, it's possible...

Where does this part belong to??

Could have just been dropped during a dealer service and the tech couldn't find it so they replaced it. They are lazy.

But the fact that it has overspray on it def points to a front end collision. Who knows could have been a love tap and the dealer just fixed it to be able to sell the car easier.
