Changed my oil for the first time today

The 5.0 without the track pack holds 6 qts according to my manual, so I had already picked up 6 qts. After filling the engine I checked the oil and it was barely touching the stick. It took two more quarts to get it up to full. Any one else experienced this?

Also I've read so much about people having a ticking engine after their first oil change. Can't help but wonder if they're running the engine low of oil.

You read the manual wrong. It holds 8 quarts.

8 quart is too full, 7 quart should suffice.

You do what you want, my 13' oil level is good at 7 quart, at 8 is abit too full. Theres no need to fill it up all the way to the full line on oil dipstick.

The owners manual says 8 quarts with filter change. Let's not try and reinvent the wheel here.

Yes you idiots lol, same goes for those who choose to use different oil weight besides 5w20 lol. As long the oil is not near low or full you should be okay, which why i said 7 quart will suffice.

you gotta admit that guy is a dullard man! he's filling the car according to the dipstick alone lol, you fill with the factory recommended amount, then reference where it is on the dipstick for your full reading, not the other way around

lol all I know is 8 quarts had my oil level sitting perfect on the dipstick. It wasn't at the top of the crosshatch, it was centered. If he wants to run 7 quarts, by all means run 7 quarts. lol
