O/R x pipe and emissions

Hello fellas,
I know it's been asked 10000x before, but I'm about to get LTH with an off road x pipe. I live in IL, so they just plug in to my OBD II and read the info, no sniff test or visual inspection. Are there any companies that email tunes that will change the readings of the O2 sensors so I can pass? I'm not the brightest when it comes to tuning, but if there's a way I can do it myself I'm all for it. I would just have no idea where to start. Not interested in registering my car in another county either, as I have gotten a ticket for that before (didn't match my drivers license address). I really don't want to keep swapping out parts every emissions test. Thanks!

Tunes just typically turn the rear o2s off. Not sure how that would show up in the test

it would read as not ready, which would fail

Scott is right they'll ask you if you disconnected the battery tell you to drive it 100 miles and come back.
Illinois may be like pa and they may exempt it if you drive <5k year.

There are tuners out there that won't turn off the rear o2's but will still be able to have all monitors set for you. But they are few and far between. I thought there were more but I was wrong. The problem stems from the SCT devices as there are only so much you can do with them. HP Tuners is the way to go but no one currently uses them but Lund may be soon.

Damn that's what I thought.

I read up on what could be exempt and I didn't see anything in regards to driving under 5000 miles, which sucks because I fit in that category. Only thing close would be a strict race car/show car could have "special" testing procedures. But it's not necessarily a strict race car...

In Connecticut you're allowed one incomplete. I'm sure Illinois is the same. If your rear o2's are turned off you'll have three. You could always swap back to ther stock H-Pipe and stock tune to go through emissions.

Yea, I can't imagine the catless having more than a 5-10hp increase over the HFC. I might just end up going that route... More money less power...

You'll still have problems passing the emissions tests.

Emissions

PA exempted me last year but I didn't have an mil/cel either.
I don't drive the vehicle if its raining etc and it gets it in its own (cold) garage all winter, though it didn't get put away until after New Years this year as the weather was really nice after Christmas here.

how so? Because of the SCT tuner? MA isn't that tough...I was able to pass with a high flow cat 3" exhaust and full bolt on's/tuned with an accessport WRX no problems.

This video was taken Monday the day after Easter. The car just passed NY Inspection. The car has full racing exhaust with high flow cats X pipe, straight pipe and a 4'' tip no mufflers, a set of cut outs a full tune and many performance parts under the hood and if you here the car you would think no way he can pass inspection but it does every year.

Keep the cats and get a more aggressive set of mufflers to offset it. It will run better, sound better with cats.
If you really want to remove them, get a set of MIL Eliminators. SCT tuning can do same thing, yes.
Keep Da Cats!

This car has been the most "difficult" to modify that I've owned lol. Everything must be carefully planned out, there's such a wide variety of the same parts. The end game for me is a vortech kit from beefcake racing. I know I'll need exhaust components to compliment the kit...not sure what the best route is.

I'm more interested in the performance gains from the exhaust, not just the sound

When/if I tune, I'd go with Lund. Is he able to tune for specific state's emissions?

Well not my cup of tea either but every one how leaves the shop after a tune is encouraged to leave a patch so I had just installed a set of Falken tire and did not want to disappoint the crowd
I love running the car on a road corse track and because the way it handle it's definitely a pleasure to drive

O/R x pipe and emissions

Lol well that sucks. I'll probably just end up getting dyno tuned then somewhere in MA because I'm not dealing with that hassle every year. I'll have to check out Dez Racing in Seekonk, I've heard good things.

Never in my life would I of have thought a mustang would be a difficult vehicle to get inspected once modified....like I said, I have a buddy with a vortech kit on his 13' and got hit by MAC and had to completely return to stock...makes me almost wanna turn this thing in if that's the case.

That grill is a OEM design that was meant to replica a 24 hrs lemans car them mold to make it was very expensive like every thing we do to make a car different them all the rest. When did you ever go to a show and not see 1000 mustangs all with the same mods and looks. Don't copy do what you want. My saying YOUR RIDE. YOUR MODS NO LIMITS If this car is different wait till you see what I'm doing to the 2005 I have. No car I own will ever look like the one next me. I know MMFF miked it they called it radical and I call it a race Car

Shaun @ AED can definitely set up a tune to pass emissions when running catless.
