My friend had a 2012 Porsche not sure if they came with turbo. He traded it in for a 2015 Vette. He said it is much faster. It only has about 400 something hrp so I wonder if the new Shelby will dominate the Vette Click image for larger version

The base C7 yes, probably not the Z06. The Shelby GT350R is no slouch in the handling/power department, but it's severely underpowered in comparison and I wouldn't think it would hold a candle, but I could be wrong.

No way the 350R will beat the C7Z

Eugh, i skimmed through all this and i'll throw in my opinion. It's v8 or nothing for me. If i couldn't afford the 5.0 I would have bought the the 3v 4.6. My last mustang was a 2v car rated at 215 hp and I would gladly take that again over any 6cyl or 4cyl mustang based purely on sound.

With that said, i do like all mustangs, i just wouldn't have anything less than 8 cylinders.

Okay I know the whole topic has been done with. So today I went into my local Ford dealership ( For maintenance ) I noticed they had a 2015 base GT Manuel black for 32,000 brand new- I looked at it for a while than the sales man offered a test drive I did and absolutely loved it of course lol. I purchased my v6 about 3 months ago and he said it wouldn't affect me as much if i traded in my current mustang since I got my v6 for a really good price, my monthly payment would go up $150 or so. I do love my v6 but realizing the base GT price range isn't to far apart makes me wonder lol. For a college student $150 is somewhat a big deal.

Don't forget about what your insurance will be. California, metro area, under 25, single, tickets? Prob 200 or more a month.

Yeah currently paying 150-200 monthly insurance. I think V6 or GT it'll still be the same since it's a sports car.

No it will be more. Trust me. Call your insurance company. Your talking about a 435hp stick shift beast vs a 300hp v6 (still awesome but the difference is pretty significant)

Yep, the V8 will raise it quite a bit.

Bro, you want that 5.0! Trade in the V6 man and step up to the true power.

Not so much power but that v8 sound I figured for the price might as well go for a GT. I just hate loosing money paying for tags, having to go to the insurance company. $150 a month more plus insurance $40-50 it is not worth it. $200 more out of my pocket monthly wouldn't work out. It was just a thought LoL I would be broke with a nice V8 but not be able to go out on dates 😂 and spend money. I would have to use the whole " I forgot my wallet trick while on a date " and have her pay for our dinner jk.

I bought a v6 because the guy at the dealership said I wouldn't be able to afford a 5.0 I was paying $463 a month and the car was 24,000. I traded it in 4 months later and got a used 2013 5.0 and started paying $510 a month. The difference is just amazing no matter what I did to the v6 it didn't match to the drive and let alone sound of a stock 5.0

They don't have to ask. They can tell by the VIN.

My v6 was 26 && the GT goes for about 33 that alone isn't to bad lol. But once you take in consideration Tags, license , insurance its not worth it lol. For my situation I should say.

As you get older the insurance on these cars is not bad at all. I pay $130 a month for my GT and a 2014 Focus Titanium hatch full coverage, and that is with one ticket on my record.

I can honestly say I was you not too long ago!!! I bought a 2012 V6 auto and really did enjoy it at first, I thought to myself you know it has good HP and TRQ for a V6 and I wasn't hung up on people who made fun of a non V8 mustang. BUT I quickly realized it was not what I wanted, I did want that 5.0 that was my dream car. So I went a little different route, I traded my 2012 V6 in for a 2008 HHR SS turbo 4cyl to lower my payment and reduce my debt until I paid some things off and just Friday 6/26/15 I found my dream car! a 2011 GT manual in ingot silver, one owner, meticulously maintained and perfect to me in almost every way! Now me and my 2 boys (2 and 11) are enjoying every second we spend together in this thing!

So long story short, if you have even a little remorse of not buying the GT yes it will continue to nag at you at least in my experience. So I say if you can afford it DO IT! if you cant save till you can! as a young kid your insurance will be higher in a GT so call and get a quote so you are not hit with a cost you weren't expecting! Good luck and hope you do what is best for you!

I absolutely have nothing bad to say about the 2011+V6 they are awesome cars! i daily drove it year round and even in horrendous snow storms that V6 got me anywhere i needed to go on stock all season tires with no additional weight in the back! its a fun car and perfect for a lot of people! I really debated paying it off and going forced induction, but ever since my dad lost his job in 2002 and we had to give up our 2 V8 mustangs I have always wanted one of my own! My dad was the first one to get a ride in my new 5.0 and it was amazing to share that with him.

so to the OP its gotta be what they really want and then take the best course to achieve it, I had to take a bit of a long road but its absolutely worth it to me now!

I agree with everything your saying sir. That's ashane your father had to sell two of his mustangs. Having a V8 mustang was your dream car and I say kudos to you good sir for making your dream a reality.

If everyone's priorities and goals were the same, this world would be very boring. Lol. Heck, maybe someday I'll even step up to a V8 mustang (lol) but as of now its just one of those things that isn't and hasn't been a life goal or even dream of mine.

I'm just very thankful for the things I do have and very content with my 3.7's sound, power and performance. 👍

My insurance would go up $50-80 dollars, and my monthly payment would go up around $150 of course at 19 years old a v6 isn't to bad... && no I can't afford $200-250 more monthly for a vehicle if I could I would totally go for a GT lol. I do not regret buying a v6 I regret buying an automatic - but than again an automatic daily driver isn't to bad. Mostly guys give me crap about buying a v6 lol but they drive old lady cars aha so it does not get to me. Maybe after college once I'm " finically stable " I'll go for a v8.
