My front end has been creaking when going slow over bumps or rough road for a while, so last night I decided to try lubing up the struts and see if that takes care of it. Long story short, it did, and it was pure bliss on the test drive. About an hour later I took it back out on the road and now the front right is popping up a storm even on decently smooth roads. All I did was move the dust boot so I could lube the strut. I can replicate the sound just by bouncing the front end about as hard as I can. It even pops when I sit down in the drivers seat.
I jacked it back up but I can't really see anything that sticks out. The only thing I can think of, as dumb as it may sound, is that the dust boot isn't happy with the way it's positioned all of the sudden or maybe the bump stop doesn't react well to silicon lube and the center is now like dragging on the strut or something. Anyone have any ideas?
