Mykey problem

Im in trouble here. I accidentally activated mykey option, had no idea what it was but now i know i cant go over 80mph and my volume is limited as well. I only have one key now since the other one got stolen :/. Do i have to take to the dealer to get it fixed ? Locksmith charges $100 but guy said its not guaranteed itll work. Had anyone had this problem before ?

Dealer will need to create a new admin key for you - you can't change your key to an admin without having a working key already.

Yeah easily. Key is probably 100-150, labor will probably be 1-2 hours. Prepare to be bent over

Order key online through tasca/automation ford. If you have a friend with VCM/IDS, then he will be able to program the keys. This is the only way to avoid paying big bucks at dealership.

Or you could take a brand new mustang key to your dealership and be like this one doesn't work no more after I activated mykey feature. They might be able to do it under warranty

Yea these newer keys with the chips in them aren't cheap. I used to have the VCM tool that allowed you to reprogram these. Very handy. But they will also have to match the key to your ignition design, etc. Because if I remember correctly, when ordering a new one, it comes as a blank. Dealer is the only one that can do this for you.

But like Bazinga11 said, see if Warranty will cover this first. If you are cool with the shop techs there, they might just be able to erase the mykey settings off. It definitely pays to have friends at Ford.

Well, if you can get him to build the key for you, then if it doesn't fix your issue, all you would need to do is go to Ford and have them configure the Admin key.

i will suggest when you get a 2nd key to make 3 as you need two to make more (w/o dealer) at least it won't happen again. Someone told me that a tune can disconnect the PATS system maybe it can disable Mykey...talk to AM to see if that is possible (an outside the box idea)

Because it's from the Dealership doesn't always mean it's gonna cost you more. I've bought some OEM parts from Ford because they were cheaper than American Muscle, CJ Pony Parts, and LatemodelRestoration.

This is true. I have also found maintenance parts I needed that I couldn't find on AM, that I got from Ford. The dealership near me gives me a 5-10% discount from what they advertise plus I save on shipping since it is like 10 min away.

Get a brand new key as I said, take it to dealership and tell em second key that came with your ain't working. No need to mention anything about losing your key or anything of that sorts! I'm more than certain it be done under warranty.

So Ford should pay for his having a key stolen/lost?

But you are asking for their time....I would have no problem looking my dealer in the eye and asking for a favor. But I wouldn't feel right trying to claim it as wtty when it's not.
