Barton question

Just did the shifter install. Is it me or does 1st gear feel more away and a lil harder to get into with this shifter then stock? any imput would help


EDIT: In a really noob move and from being in a rush, i didnt notice the part where if i have a 2013 mustang i need to take the screw out on the Barton and spin the unit to the 2013 side....... what a moron move.....anyway works great now lmao

Are you sure you installed it correctly? I haven't done it myself yet, but I thought I heard others that installed it incorrectly claim similar things.

i dont see anything i could have gotten wrong. Made sure the clip was on made sure the boot was seated around the bottom. bolts tight. It shift thru all the gears. just feels really close together and has like no wiggle room for mistakes , When i took off the stock one i noticed when i shift to first it was up against the wall on the shifter box, the barton going into first is not ,,,

I have the barton and bracket.

Did you buy the bracket for the trans with the shifter, or just the shifter alone? I would Highly advise that you buy the Stainless steel braided clutch line too, it makes the shifts so much smoother. Had I have known how much of a difference the braided line makes I would have done it when I did my shifter and bracket. This is how Ford should have built all of the 11-14 stangs, instead of the nylon clutch line and horrible trans mounting bracket.

Yea I got the 2 post bracket too.... gonna do the line but I'm still trying to figure out why I have a grind from 2nd to 3rd under hard shifts

Ya I have a grind going into 5th on hard shifts under 1850 rpm.
