Clunking Sound When Pushing Clutch In

Hey guys,

Not sure if it's the car or I drive like ****.

Sometimes when I'm driving slow and I push the clutch in the car will make a big clunking noise.

Sounds like the driveshaft but I'm not 100%.

Anyone else experiencing this? Doesn't happen every time but when it does it sounds like I'm driving a $5,000 shot box.

2014 gt manual only mod is hurst shifter.

It's fine, mine makes the same noise .sometimes we all have to remind ourselves that we're driving mustangs and not maybachs haha. It's either the driveshaft or the clutch disengaging . I'm beginning to accept that these cars are just not that quiet when it comes to the driveshafts , clutch, and sometimes suspension .

After replacing the LCA's, UCA, lowering it, putting in the Whiteline trans spacer............still did it. I then replace the carrier bushing with the BMR busing and changed to a 1 piece drive line..............no more clunking............solved!

I've only had my "new to me" Mustang for about a month now. After buying it, I heard the same sporadic noises sometimes when pushing the clutch in, shifting, etc. Came on here and discovered that it was normal, which made me feel better. Hope you feel better now too

I believe it's the 2 piece drive shaft. Mine does it as well.

It's the slack in the driveline caused by the two piece drive shaft.

Try pushing the clutch in when the car is not running and see if it makes the same noise. Mine makes a strange noise too.

If you are all tired of listening to the clunking of the driveshaft sliding in and out and the center bearing swinging back and forth, just ditch the 2 piece and go with what should have been put in the Mustang..............a 1 piece aluminum driveshaft.
When you replace the UCA you should do yourself a favor and either replace the carrier bushing with a GT500 bushing or the BMR urethane bushing.

I also had that problem but seems to occur less now that I installed a McLeod Braided Clutch Line. Do you guys also hear the gear changes in the trans? Mines pretty loud sometimes.. like a click/clank sound.

I don't have a braided clutch line, but do have a separate reservoir for the clutch rather than use the brake reservoir for both. The clutch feels different than it did before.
My trans is quite, but the rearend whines quite loudly between 2000/3000rpm. Had a mechanic drive with me last week and he wants to check in on the rack and is not sure if it's the transmission or rearend. They just replaced a pinion seal that started leaking at 7800 miles.
Just need to get all of the factory bugs out of the way so I can go play.
