Need Some Help With Car Bogging

Hello guys, my 2013 Mustang GT A6 has ~ 49,500 miles on it. Recently, the car has just been bogging down during acceleration. I like to start from a stop in third gear, because the first two gears are just too short. I also like to drive with AdvanceTrac turned off. Recently, it feels as if my car is running on like four cylinders during acceleration, 1000 rpm through 3000 rpm.

Within the last two months, I have received P0303 (cylinder 3 misfire) DTC's three times. After the second time, I took the spark plug and coil pack out of cylinder three and put them elsewhere in the engine, to see if I could get the problem to move. Guess what, a third DTC for cylinder 3 misfire still occurred!! This means that either I have a fuel related issue or a electrical/sensor issue somewhere that is putting my car into limp mode I guess.

I have already done the trick with using a long screwsdriver as a sort of stethoscope to listen to the clicking of the fuel injectors, and all eight seem to click along just fine, including the number three injector.

What do you guys suggest with your experience?

Is your car tuned ? Next thing I would look into would be to re-flash the ecu .

Sounds like a tuning issue

My car is tuned.

Funny thing I forgot to mention, earlier this week, I returned my car to stock, then did a KAM reset, and then reflashed my tune.

That did nothing for my issue.

Hey not trying to insult you, but make sure you loaded the right tune. If you have more than one...it can happen.

You're pretty much describing how my car ran after I loaded the wrong tune...

Another misfire code appeared this morning, so I cleared it and then reflashed my tune. This time, I triple checked before I pressed the continue button, so I knew that it was the correct tune.

Drove my car to the gym afterwards, this morning. When I got out of the gym to drive home, the same code appeared back again.

So, instead of trying to find out what is going on myself, I just made an appointment with my local Ford dealership.

Have you talked to your tuner about the issue? Doing some logs they may be able to sort it out for you. You're kinda SOL once you take it to the dealer to have them fix it if it's a tuning problem.

I have not yet as I have not even considered the tune to be the issue for a misfire.

What would I even log?

I would start by calling whoever tuned the car and let them know what's going on and have them tell you what they need to see. It could very well be something simple.

You got 50K on the original set of plugs? Replace them, none of them are worth a damn at this point. You should inspect the plugs coming out carefully and see what you find. Every one wants to jump on the tune without doing basic diag first. Tunes generally don't "go bad" or have a sell-by date.

Is it just me, or is everyone looking over the fact that he's starting FROM a stop in 3rd gear. Ball park, I'm guessing you'd have to ride the clutch until at least 10 mph to get your car up to 500+ rpm and if you're letting out the clutch too soon you're stressing the engine. Engines are designed to operate in a certain RPM range and I'm pretty sure you're going too low in the that range, where you really don't have enough hp/torque.

Putting that type of stress on the engine in that low of RPMs can stall the motor & possibly be causing your problems. Granted most cars can skip 1st gear, especially if you have 3.73's, but NOT 2 gears. They put that many gears in there for a reason!

Now I'm assuming you have set of stock gears. But if you have some even larger gears in there like 4.x+ etc.. then MAYBE you COULD skip 1st & 2nd, but I still wouldn't recommend it, as the difference from 1-3 is A LOT.

Try starting from a stop in 1st gear and see if that fixes your bogging down!

Also, replace plugs as someone else mentioned.

Well, then he can't really control what gear its in, as the engine will automatically downshift to whatever gear it needs to be in to not stall. And I don't think you can start from 3rd even if you're in manual mode SelectShift and pick 3rd gear.

So my point is, his statement "I like to start in 3rd gear." now makes even less sense!

I think you've grasped the essence of it quite well....
