Need more advice please!

Hello Everyone,

I am still in the search of my perfect mustang. I may have found it, but would like your input. It is a white 2012 California Special with approx 24,000 miles on it, 6 speed. They are asking $24,700. I am attaching the Carfax and would like to know if it's worth it and what you think I should offer.
As always, thank you in advance,
Peter

I'd say that's too much. One can draw the conclusion from the failed emissions tests that the previous owner was running off road cat deletes. Sign of potential abuse? Ehh. Maybe, maybe not. Signs it's been tuned. Most likely.

I think I'd tread lightly on that deal. You can pick up a base model 14 GT for the same amount with half the miles.

My base model auto 14, with 22k miles was 25,500.

I agree with ox on the failed emissions. But, my car has off road cats, is tuned, and I don't abuse mine.

Well, I did run it at the drag strip 2 times. But hey it's a mustang. lol

Two guy I race with picked up lightly used (less than 10,000 miles) premium '14s for 24K, so that price is about 4-5 more than I would pay. Keep in mind that this car is now two body styles old with 24,000 miles. Plus I was offered a '13 track pack with recaros for 21k with 8,000 miles.

I might be in the minority here, but I think that is a reasonable asking price, especially for a special edition model...

I would compare it with the blue book value, and of course check it out in person.

California Special is not a special edition, but just a different (and fairly common) trim package.

Last year I bought a 14 TrakPak w/Recaro's with 2700 miles and paid less than $26k. The car now has 8700 miles and although I've added over $6 in suspension, wheels/tires, and misc items.....................I wouldn't sell mine for less than what I originally paid.....................now with that said I'd look for a 13/14 GT with lower miles. I'm not sure why it's failed DEQ so many times, but to me that's a Red Flag. Also, it's changed hands too many times for my liking.
When I was looking for a Mustang last year I really wanted a CS/GT and only found one...............it had an automatic which I didn't want. At least here on the West Coast CS/GT's are few and far between............and command a higher price that a normal run of the mill base GT.
My advise/recommendation........................look for a 13/14 around the same price range and with lower miles.................one that hasn't failed DEQ ever!

According to NADA, CS is worth about $1500 more.

EDIT: I assume it still has the drive train warranty.
Should have the selling dealer confirm, due to possible tune. In writing.
