Should I get new gears?

Have 3.15s on my 2011 GT Auto. Doing full bolt-ons on my car within the next year and wanted to do this first, I was thinking 3.55s cause this is my daily.

Will 3.55s work good on an auto?

Should I get it done by a ford shop because this is a pretty complicated job I've heard because it can cause whining if done wrong...

Thanks

No, gears will not help you enough to jusify the cost. You need a converter.

What are u looking to do with the car? Gears definitely make it more fun to drive. I have 390's in mine with full bolt ons and a boss manifold and like it. Had 331's and they were too tall for my preference and the converter.

Should I get new gears?

Isn't a converter like 1K though? I was thinking more around $400-500 with the gears installed.

What about a tune?
I've heard so many people dealing with all these problems they have once they tune their car...I saw the ford racing tune that looks very safe but obviously won't make the numbers that a other tune would. I do plan on getting a O/R Hpipe soon that would have to require a tune...am I right?

I'm in the Army so I don't have my garage back home so everything I'm doing to it is getting done in a shop basically.

Circle D converter is 1150 if I remember correctly. As for tunes go with AED, Lund or roush and you should be set problem free. And yes you'll need it for off road pipes. Tune is the best mod and and should be on every car Imo

I have 3.55's on my 15' GT MT and it has good accel and decent MPG's on the highway. Either 3.55 or 3.73 for a daily is what I would go with. I had 4.10s on my 12' V6 and they seemed a bit too steep for a daily driver

Since you have an auto, go with 3.31s if you want to swap gears. The gearing for the 6R80 is a bit steep, as 1st gear is a 4.17. 3.31 for a 6R80 is similar to a 4.10 for an MT82, IIRC.

331's on the contrary to what a lot of ppl say are not that steep even in the auto. My personal preference is a little steeper. I went from 373 to 331 now a 390 and like the 390 best. I also have a 5c converter as well. Car is much livelier and more fun to drive. All comes down to your personal preference.
