Louvers

I just bought a set of Ford quarter window louvers that will need to be painted. My question is how are you guys painting yours? I see color match rattle can base and clear kits. Anyone use this or do I need to have a body shop spray them?

You can do it that way(rattle can color match and clear) but unless you know what your doing and prep them correctly it will most likely turn out looking like poo.

A shop would prob prep and paint for less than 100 bucks. Maybe more but in that range.

If you do try to do this yourself make sure you scuff them with a pad and wipe them clean. Then make sure you use an adhesion promoter followed by a primer then base coat clear coat for best results.

I have no doubt I can paint them myself and do a good job. I painted my Harley myself, not with a can thou. I'm concerned about color match in these kits and if a body shop would do them for a hundo I'd just as well let them do it. The color match kit I looked at wasn't cheap. I did see some duplicolor paint that I was considering.

Price it out. I had a gt500 spoiler painted for 80 bucks.

Obviously the color comes into play as far as costs. But for a shop, this is an easy project. Off the car, no masking ect.

Body shop few blocks from me is doing mine for $65. I don't think I can buy the paint for that.
