Trade 2011 Gt Premium for a 2015 stock v6?

So I've been seing the new mustang lately and I really like it and having the gt for 6 months been fun but no one wants to race me and sometimes it's hard to race because I live in LA and there's too much traffic. So would you guys help me out here should I trade?

No,

Unless you like driving a rental car since that's why the 2015 V6 even exists. There are no performance or luxury/tech packages available for it. If you must get a 2015 get an Ecoboost with the perf pack

Yes, because then when you race you'll only be street racing in a V6.

I know. But all you are getting out of this is a smaller engine. Unless you REALLY like the cosmetics. I personally wouldn't give up a 5.0 for some cosmetic changes. Especially if yours is a Premium already. Stock V6s like others have said, is just Base. No leather, no Shaker, no 3.31/3.55s, None of that. You will be slow as hell after being in a 5.0.

So you would lose ALOT and barely get anything in return. Besides the 2015 status and warranties.

Seems like people from cali are either firing on all cylinders or the complete opposite.

For a ecoboost I could see that but not what you suggested

True but an ecoboost fully loaded used comes out to like 32,000 I would rather spend that on a 2015 stock gt which by the looks of it I'll probably will.

Not really everyone is saying to never get a v6 to get an ecoboost better so that helped!

I 2nd this. I have always wanted to drive a 5.0. I could never imagine downgrading. I feel like we should take a day to mourn.

Your last comment

"I would rather spend that on a 2015 stock gt which by the looks of it I'll probably will"

Then you opened the thread talking about nobody wants to race ext...........so you were asking about trading for a v6 bc of this.

That is exactly what I was thinking. I would never condone someone racing on a public road. I never like the thought of being that guy that ends up making a family never see someone again.

More importantly, you own a 5.0 just so you can "race"? That seems ridiculous.

So I am going to hijack this thread for a better cause.

-oxford, any update on that other cluster you purchased? Couldn't remember when you were going to install it. If you need any info, hit me up!

Well on the internet you can't win unless you have a v8 so it makes sense.

You should move to Texas then, everywhere I drive there's has to be at least one person who's revving at me at a stop light or just trying to race me. I think it's stupid to be racing on the streets where there's a lot of traffic. I tend to ignore all of those ppl and drive normal. I mean I do have a 5.0 to have fun and hear it scream when I step on it, but not stupid enough to be racing. Just go
To the track if you want to race.

and now for something helpful.....if it's an even trade I think it's a good idea. I doubt it will be so how much would this cost you and details on your ride.

So are you putting the 2014 cluster on? If so is it complicated?

Can't wait to get my hands on the premium cluster, but I'll get it in 3yrs/ 48k miles which ever comes first. Don't want the dealership giving me bs about warranty.

It's a 13 cluster in my 14. It's an easy swap.

I would say it is a little involved and if you aren't good at figuring things out, do not try this. If you mess up or cannot complete this, you could leave your car not starting. Because you have to wipe the keys at one point of the install and resync/program them to the Premium cluster.

I guess if that DID happen, you could take it to the dealer to get the keys reprogrammed. "Easy" is more of an opinionated term. Easy is if you are good at getting all of the info and completing the job. Of course, there is Google for everything else.

There are some good threads on here with alot of info. I have tackled this myself and I love it. Search Premium Cluster in the 2011-2014 V6 portion of the forum. There should be a couple of threads between December 2014 and March 2015 that will have all of the info you need. One of them is my thread. Had about 2000+ views.
