If I negotiate a deal maybe you can test drive it for me? KY is only a hop skip and a jump. I may fly down to drive it back.

1 Week with the car. All I have to say is Holy **** !!!

It's still a bit cold in the northeast, so the tires aren't able to get sticky just driving around the roads. So, 50mph in 3rd gear and hit the gas....just a smoke show. If you want to spin this car around in a circle with cold tires it's only a matter of tapping the gas in first gear with the wheel turned. I did two circles and never got the engine above 3,500rpm. The torque is simply foolish.

0 to 60 is truly 3.6 seconds even with the cold tires. I think with sticky tires it could be a tenth of a second faster as I can't get much more than 1/2 to 3/4 throttle before I start to spin the cold tires.

The suspension is a bit stiff but nothing harsh. The car corners amazingly well on the street even with cold tires.

I've yet to play with things (like turning off traction control, putting the car in sport mode, etc). So, I don't know the car's behavior in these modes. More to come.

The exhaust is like a symphony. It's got so many different sounds. And when you let off the gas the sound is just like a dragster ending a quarter mile run. I have to put the GoPro's on the back bumper and post a video. I just keep forgetting.

Everytime I stop somewhere I am inundated with car people (men and women) stopping to ask loads of questions. It's actually a little crazy. I love the attention, but it's to the point that I won't stop somewhere unless I know I have 1/2 hour to spend answering questions and listening to all the cars everyone has owned over their lives. Don't get me wrong...I love the attention and love hearing the stories. But they do take a lot of time.

Supersnake a 50th Anniversary GT - Opinions

Shouldn't expect anything less from Shelby. Now time for the drag car look you're wanting. Sounds like the car really needs it, or it needs to get warmer up there. Looking forward to the videos!
As for the attention, get use to it. You have a special car, and as you know it attracts people. Comes with the territory. Most never consider or are aware of how much attention they'll get when they buy a special car. Wait till you start going to car shows in it.

Adventure till you drop.

Placing an order for parts tomorrow with Shelby. Just found a clone hood Carbon fiber "Super Snake" Style 2015 - 2016 Mustang Hood | Anderson Composites Trying to negotiate a lower price on the White 2015 GT in KY. The clone is going to be a fun project. I'll have to start another thread on the 2015 forum when I finally get that rolling.

Good luck with the car in KY.........negotiations over the phone and internet usually take longer than face to face........certainly when you start the clone build make a separate build thread.
Are you going to build the clone or have it done? If you have it built by someone else buy a cheap digital camera and have the builder take at least a couple of dozen pictures per day of the build.........ask him to put it in the contract. I have a friend that owns a Mustang only restoration shop and almost everyone that comes in for restoration work has made this a part of his/her contract.....just a thought.

3 minutes of Super Snake sound. Exhaust is a Borla "Stinger-type" (as Shelby puts it) catback exhaust. Stock headers.

Startup,a little revving in park, moderately hard acceleration, light acceleration, highway speed.

First time at New England Drag with the Super Snake.

So, I had no helmet and was told I had to keep it over 14 seconds. No problem I thought. I let the 300ZX in the right lane get a few car lengths on me as I slowly left the lights, then I gave it gas and shifted. I broke traction in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. When I got to the return lane I was hit with a flashing light and told that I had to go get a helmet or couldn't run again. When I got to the shed and they gave me my time I was amazed that I ran a 13.017. I even kept the A/C running the entire time.

So, of course you go to the race shack and buy a helmet right? The second run was faster, but reaction time was horrible. But I managed a 12.741. Again I had no traction and had to feather the throttle in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd as every gear shift was met with instantly spinning tires. Was able to give it hell in 4th and needed 5th to get past the finish line.

So, I did one last run and then called it a night since the car still only has 740 miles on it and I'm not sure if that's enough miles to run it too hard. This time I had an ok (certainly not great) reaction time but ended up smoking tires for the first 500 feet at least. It smelled like a burning tire dump in the car the entire way down the track. I was too excited I guess and even though I thought I was letting off the gas the time-slip tells a different story. The 330 time should have been a lot better given the reaction time if I had traction.

But it was real fun three-run night and I definitely have a fast car if it does 12.7 seconds with street tires. Plus, I never did heat the tires up pre-run. I figured I'd see how it went on cold rubber (and I didn't want to burn up brand new road-track tires just for a couple of runs). Now that I have a nice full-face helmet it's time to visit the raceway in Loudon NH.

I think Mhissstress is retired from drag racing and will reign as the garage queen, maybe to participate in vintage races on the raceway course every now and then.

The clone will be set up exactly the same. I expect her first three runs to be very similar to the Shelby. Then that car will be tweaked and tweaked again until it gets below 10.5 seconds. That may mean some engine work and an increase in the SC boost. But, I'm going to see how low I can get it without doing anything other than tires, tire pressure, and practice. At that point I will know what the garage queen is actually capable of without doing any damage to her Highness.

For god sakes Medward... Drive the damned thing!
It's not an investment. Not for you anyways. The only way that you are going to benefit from that car is to drive it and enjoy it.
I do like the clone project! I also tend to gravitate towards having duplicate vehicles. That way I can mix and match parts from them when necessary. The drag radials will fit on the clone project when it is completed... If there is anything left of them, that is.

^^^That set up is so awesome looking. The clone will have skinnies up front and wrinkles in back.

I was playing a little with the linelock yesterday and wearing off rubber. That track app is not as intuitive as one would think. I finally figured it out. It doesn't take anything to get the rear tires turning with it engaged. I may try another few runs with the Michelin Pilot SS tires on the Super Snake to see if that knocks off any time by giving me traction. The tires do get sticky on the road race track so I would think it would help at the drags.

I don't want to buy drag radials (since I won't use them much) and am not excited about removing the big brakes on the back of the SS to get wrinkles to fit, so I don't see the SS looking like your car in the pic.

QUESTION: Do you turn off the traction control and engage any of the sport or track modes when you run at the drags, or do you leave traction control engaged and run in regular mode? I did the runs with the car just in the basic street mode with traction control engaged.

.
Not sure how the factory installed unit works.
Both of my cars have aftermarket line-locks. ( JPC )( toggle switch on/off )
To use these:
1. Turn off all the nannies.
2. Step hard on the brake.
3. Switch the line lock on.
4. Let the clutch out slowly till the tires spin.....( 3 to 5 seconds is all it takes )
.
..." If you have 3.73 gears (or numerically higher gears) do the burnout in Second gear. With 3.55s or less, use First. The idea is to create wheel speed, as this gets the tires cleaned quickly, without putting too much load on the clutch. "
.
5. Turn the line-lock off and walk out of the burn-out box.

Yes, drag racing can be addictive..........I've been addicted since my first run down the track in H/S........that was 55 years ago.
Personally I'd like to see you in single digit territory....good reaction time and about at 1.4 60' time will get you there....IMHO

Yours will be upgraded at near birth to the Shelby where as years from now a man could find a 50th after who knows how many miles and how it was driven and then upgrade it but that wouldn't bring the same slam dunk as one of a handful of near birth 50ths receiving the upgrade.
I know that was a stupid long winded opinion but I hope it made sense.
I'm 100% with this guy. Do the SS package.

Single digits....boy I think I've got to grow some cahonas for that And get a lot of track time.

Clone car is being delivered next week. Shelby has shipped their packages. We'll all work to get the clone into single digits. There is a lot of knowledge on this board and I'm willing to soak up as much as I can!

If you don't already have a muy grande set now for driving the SS then I would suggest getting more exercise.
Since the "clone" is going to be a stick it's all about seat time and suspension setup. My Ole Maverick had a Liberty build top loader behind a stock appearing Boss 302 and on 10.5 slicks....it was able to turn 10.20's/10.30's in the day of B/SM.
If you are serious and devote the seat time I'm sure you will get there...sooner than you think.........and still be able to take it on a road course.

Olerodder (and everyone else that can help )

I have my shift light. Now I am learning about the apparent lack of a normal tach signal in late model Mustangs. There seems to be a fair amount of information on this, but I'm still somewhat confused and not certain what my specific shift light needs.

1. There is a tach adapter (RPM SIGNAL ADAPTER FOR DISTRIBUTORLESS IGNITIONS) that can be installed to convert digital coil signals pulses to a tach signal. It costs almost $100 so I'd like to be certain I need it and it will work with the Schnitz shift light. I think this is probably what I need to install for the light to work, but want to be certain. The install manual specifically references '99 - '04 mustangs which is odd. So, does it not apply to later model mustangs?

2. Some folks talk about using an injector wire for the signal. Not sure if that applies to this light.

3. The instructions that came with the light says I can use a "negative side of an ignition coil". Not sure if that applies to the Mustang setup.

Help...
