I don't think anyone covers you once you hit the 1/4 mile. As you stated...once the slicks go on and one rolls up to the lights (me at New England Dragway in Epping NH) it's all on the car owner's dime if things go wrong (so let's hope things don't go wrong )

It's the car...the insurance on the Boss is higher than a regular Mustang there must be a lot of claims on them. If you Google "wrecked Boss" you'll see why.

That's an odd title for the article. I thought the author was not happy with the car. Turns out he thought it was great. He just wanted it to more of a death trap. What an odd way to write an article...and odd way to title it.

More Pics....
  • First one shows the brushed aluminum grills and carbon fiber splitter.
  • Second shows the new brakes.
  • Third shows those beautiful deep polished aluminum wheels and fat tires....(tires that will likely need to be replaced after my week in Vegas ) as well as the rear spoiler and rear carbon fiber valance.
  • Fourth shows the interior effectively removed for the installation of the 4 point roll cage (note the new gauge package on the dash and I believe that is the new short throw shifter).

Looks great!
However that is a painfully slow build. Seems like an hour of effort a day.

hahahaha....I'm assuming the picture was taken while he was in the middle of blinking. Ummm....let me restate that. I'm HOPING the picture was taken while he was in the middle of blinking.

Oh ya, you can also see parts of the new suspension linkage in the last pic as well. They put in camber/caster plates and adjustable tow rods in the rear.

The build is coming along nicely. Do you know if the grille inserts are clear-coated ?
Is the roll cage bolt-in or welded ?

Now, is that a widebody kit on the car? The picture with the wheel, that fender flare looks like it sticks out more than stock. Or is it just me.

When she is done I request that you do not park near other vehicles or objects that could be hazardous to the Snake. If it was mine I would die if it got a door ding, someone else would die before me though.... haha

Yes! The worst thing owning a new car is not allowing the dreaded door ding.

That's with all cars, depending on the owner.

I've always parked away form other cars....but parking far away from my wife's car was never a thought until she opened her door and put a dent in mine. I had always wondered about dent removal and called one when I was in San Jose. He came over........I went in the house and could hear him pounding...just turned the music up lowered. When he was done it cost me $125 and although I knew exactly where to look I couldn't tell there had ever been a dent there.......the moral of this story is never park next to your wife and girlfriend.........IMHO

Wheels are clear coated. Grill inserts are not. I'm probably going to have the grills clear coated afterwards.

Yup....same colors. Looks real nice. However, I think he should have gone with the Whipple SC. It's the better SC at this time. Plus...Whipple = Ford.....always have. IMHO, a 50th anniversary car has to respect history as much as possible to be done right. But, my hats off to him for SSnaking another 50th. There won't be many of these and it's a big commitment to do it, regardless of the options chosen.

Too late. It got a ding while at the dealership before Shelby got it. Shelby is removing the ding while it's down there. Yes....the dealership let someone hit the door while they held it for me for a week before it got shipped to Shelby. The folks at Shelby are using a paintless ding removal process.

  • 2.9 Whipple
  • Whipple billet 140mm elliptical (1900cfm) mono blade throttle body I believe (I should know that...I'll have to ask)
  • Bolt in roll cage and harness bar (1 3/4" diameter)

I don't think that throttle body is big enough. Do they use the Aluminator coyote? You know when you get it back you're going to have to do a video review.

?

If you are referring to the crate motor by Ford, no. They use the stock motor. I've asked a bunch of questions related to the SC. I should have an answer back tomorrow.

Teasing about the throttle body; it's frigging huge. And I was curious about the engine. What is the exhaust going to be?
