I think I'll bet on your car. Then again I'm interested in seeing what a Coyote based SuperSnake can do.

Definitely a start to paying her back haha and that's a long-ish time away. At least you get it back when the nice weather should be started

Basically the same thing you've done with your car.

Costs a fair bit more, though I'm not sure what the difference is, because it's still 750hp

Other than the obvious difference in appearance.

And there's only 50. So, I suppose that justifies the price

Not really. Costs about the same.

He took a loaded 50th anniversary $44k mustang + $60k+ for his SS options = $104k

That yellow one, its more like a base GT $36k + $69 package = $105k

Speaking of $100k Mustangs.... this limited anniversary edition 2015 GT350: Ford Mustang Shelby GT 350 | eBay one of only 137 made, sold for $93k.

Oh, I was under the impression that it was 50K for SuperSnake and 65K for Terlingua

I'd take his SuperSnake over that, given the choice between the two.

I agree with Recon...the SS just has more eye appeal and looks more sophisticated than the Terlingua...it just looks too much like a race car...IMHO

My Car vs. Terlingua
The two cars are very similar from my understanding. The Terlingua uses the 2016 Mustang GT as the base car. My SS uses the 2015 Mustang GT as the base car. They reference the GT350R. From my understanding, they are not modifying a GT350R since the 350R has a 5.2L flat plane crank engine that Shelby decided was not capable of being supercharged. I think they are creating a limited edition SS GT in yellow that resembles in color and stance the GT350R. This article indicates the Shelby Terlingua is based upon the SS package Shelby American Announces New Terlingua Racing Team Mustang – News – Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog

The major difference that I point out with my car is that I have a numbered 50th anniversary edition mustang which to me makes it *special*. Then I made it a SS, which to me makes it *super* special. The Terlingua is special because Shelby is making a limited number of them. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. BTW...I have a real big smile on my face since you guys are saying you like mine better

From a performance perspective I would think my car and the Terlingua would likely be the same. C-Rizzle is spot on....the two cars are just about the same cost after considering the cost of the base car. However, mine was closer to $120k since I chose every option that Shelby offered for the 2015SS (rollbar, fully adjustable rear suspension, and clearbra were most of the extra).

Real GT350R
Now, the actual GT350R itself is a pretty amazing car and much different than the GT primarily due to its magnetic suspension, braking, and the engine. The reviews of the GT350R at the track are nothing short of spectacular. Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 / GT350R Reviews - Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 / GT350R Price, Photos, and Specs - Car and Driver

GT vs. GT350R
Mustang GT ---> More straight line quarter mile, but good at the roadway racetrack
Mustang GT350R ---> Phenomenal at the roadway racetrack, not really set up for great 1/4 mile times

That's my humble opinion.

Agreed. What's more badass than a SuperSnake that's also 50th anniversary?

I wasn't really trying to bring in a what I'd rather comparison, as that's completely personal choices.

More of... lets look at all these top of the line bad *** mustangs together!

The SS's and supercharged custom Shelby's should obviously be faster in a straight line (1/4 miles) due to the massive 700hp+. And if set up correctly could be the fastest car on the racetrack (road course) too.

GT350's with their magna-ride and track suspension set up will be superfast for road courses and start at only $58k. And yes, they're getting close to MSRP. I know of several places down to $63-68k, and its only a matter of time before they're selling for MSRP. It just took a while for the supply to catch up with demand. Look at their serial build #'s. They're up to 2,000 now. (not sure if that's total production or just 2016)

Now the GT350R, I think due to the CF rims, and super sticky tires, would be even harder to beat at the racetrack (road course).

Give me the Supersnake over the others. Fabulous looking car. Even if I had the money though - I wouldn't own it. I would certainly kill myself in it. LOL So it would just sit and never get used.

I imagine you could increase the boost to get a stock coyote 302 up to 1,000hp...but it may not hold together very long. I think you need the strength and increased ci in the 351 to be able to generate 1,000hp (hence the reason that mod has been limited to the GT500). So, I believe Ford will have to put a 5.8L into a S550 chassis to make that possible.

I did ask Shelby a long time ago why the car I was buying has 750hp and not more, and they indicated that going higher would push the 302 past tolerance that they were comfortable with on a primarily stock motor. To get that 5.0L to 1000hp I think they would be doing a lot more than slapping on a SC, changing out injectors, and putting in a new fuel pump. It would probably be cost prohibitive as it would push that mod's price to a real crazy level (as if $120k isn't crazy enough )

.
The only limit to what can be built is your wallet !!
Both of my cars can make a lot more rwhp, but to do that would require a built bottom end.
My tuner told me 12-15K to do the 14 correctly.
The 14 made 818rwhp & the tuner backed it off to 780 because of the stock bottom end.

I did a little research and found that the coyote motor may also need new piston sleeves as the stock ones have some level of inconsistency that may cause issues at very high HP levels. This article goes into a great deal of detail on the issue How to Strengthen a Coyote Block for Big-Horsepower Applications

As I've been looking into the question, I'm actually a little more nervous now about the power put into my stock motor and how long it will stay together running it at the drag strip. This article talks about the good things with the coyote motor and why Ford was comfortable bringing it to 11:1 compression and getting 400+ hp out of it A Closer Look at the New 5.0L Coyote Engine - Dragzine. But, even with all that factory reinforcing, I'm hoping Shelby/Whipple have done enough testing on this engine to know that 750hp won't weaken things enough to cause failure under relatively stressful situations like drag racing and roadtrack racing....obviously realizing that any engine can be blown up if mistreated. From everything I've read, the aluminum block and the heads are strong enough to handle anything thrown at them. But there are areas of weakness that will cause failure at really high HP levels.

Ever notice how most production motors cap off around 650-700hp?
... from exotics like Lambo, Ferrari, McLaren to domestic beasts like Hellcats & GT500's.

Make me think that's about as high as you can RELIABLY (long term) go...
on normal priced production parts. (not boutique super high end titanium alloy reinforced)

More like it's as high a power as anyone wants to see on the streets with less than stellar public paved asphalt. I mean yeah you can build one with more but you get what I'm saying.

Also emissions and insurance and mileage reasons. Good example is the Hellcat. That motor is BUILT but they put a baby 2.4L blower on it.

I hear you on the insurance. Normal insurers won't touch this thing because of the HP (and the value). Had to go through Haggerty.

Call with State Farm Insurance...."Hello, I have a 750hp Shelby Mustang I'd like to insure"....silence from the other end of the phone.....

As I get ready to go drive the car for the first time...I need to give "her" a name. The license plate is going to be "HISSS", but I need a name. Looking forward to suggestions.
