Vince LaViolette on the left. Gary Patterson on the right. These two guys design and prototype the Shelby's. These guys rock! And they signed my friggin car

I asked Jeremy Roberts to see if they'd be willing to sign my car (after I left I put in the request). I am so happy and grateful they did it.

Is that a shelby golf cart in the background of your car?

Great eyes. Yes it is....they wouldn't sell it hahahaha. It's got a real cool body on it for a golf cart. Stripes, emblems, everything.

The pic showing the signatures on my car gives a good view of the golf cart's front end and front tire. It's pretty cool. Same color scheme and GT350 striping as a 1964 1/2 GT350.

Here's a short video. It took me hours simply to go through all the footage to catalog it.

We were doing "lead/follow" exercises in groups of 4 cars. So the speed is limited to the slowest of the 4 cars. We weren't allowed to do time trials due to the fact there were people of differing abilities and all of us were unknown to the Shelby team. So, the speeds aren't exciting. I did tend to hang in the back, let some distance build between me and the car in front of me giving me at least some room to play. My car only had about 250 miles on it by the time we hit the track so I was ok with the slow speeds. Don't critique my shifting skills as I was going very easy on the car and not trying to speed shift or run the gears. It is a brand new car after all.

I topped out at 115 coming out of one of the corners. On the back straightaway I usually cruised under 60 using that space to build some room between me and the number 3 car in the 4 car line.

I'll have a more interesting video eventually (this weekend maybe).

Well I have to say, it looked pretty impressive to me the way you gained on the #3 car when you wanted to.

Ok, I have a question medwards. Sorry if you've already covered this; I'm just curious how this works. Do you get all the parts that were taken off your car back? As in like your wheels, brakes, hood, intake system, emblems, exhaust, grills, suspension, etc? Or does Shelby keep them and you get your car as-is with none of the pervious parts on the car.

Every day is a joyride.

He did already cover it. You do not get any old parts back. If you want to keep parts like the decklid or the hood you can pull those off before they get the car. But you can't send the car without wheels and brakes. They factor the resale of your old parts into the price supposedly. But there was a few pages of convo about this in this thread.

That is a good lookin car bud!

One of the guys at the car show has a 13 or 14 Widebody Snake. He paid the optional $2K to get stock parts back, he received the wrong parts back... Shelby cannot find his parts. When they sent the stock SC back it was for an 09 Shelby.... I don't think Shelby is how it used to be, but this may just 1 incident.

You guys make me want to modify my golf cart at the shop now. I'm feeling Raptor body for it... Haha

How can they get that wrong?! It has SVT and 5.8 engraved on it. Mr. Shelby would be so proud.

A short video of a couple laps around the track. Kindof slow speed stuff, but still fun. I've got video of faster laps that I'm working on.

Yes, the car wanted to run over 110mph on that track and I was limited most times to below 70mph.

Got it. The next one is just going to be a straight shot of 7 minutes of driving for the hard core members. Unfortunately I never thought of putting a gopro on the back bumper near the exhausts. That would have been awesome. Those Borla exhausts truly are amazing to hear. The videos don't do them any justice at all.

Uncut video of laps around the track. Remember, first time driving the car, slow traffic in front, and not really wanting to beat the car since it only had about 300 miles on it during this taping.

I love being on the track (road courses). Drag racing is so anti-climatic, an hour wait for 11 seconds of adrenaline. My comparison... masturbating for one minute (drag racing is a solo sport mostly), or an orgy for 3 hours (racing enjoying with others).

Find out when/where your local NASA & PCA clubs' HPDE are. 20 minutes of heart racing action at a time is where its at!!

Here's a video from our local PCA track chairman's car, and he's also the winner of the NASA & PCA races almost every time. He's a beast to watch drive. It's a 2014 911 GT3R

At this point in the race, he's already lapped almost everyone with really no one close to closing in on him.

OK, he's fast. And, it's amazing to see a car revving to virtually 10krpm. He's certainly not afraid of using the gearing in that car either.

But, looking at the speeds relative to the video image, he's definitely turned up the speed on the video. It's easy to do in a video editing software app. I would guess he sped up the video by maybe 30%.

But, he is very fast.

What software/hardware does he have installed in the car to register the speed, rpm's etc. Is it homemade or off the shelf?

If you look at the lap timer, it looks accurate to the time. ie: its not sped up.
Base on the time (1.65 mins) & size of track (2.75 miles), his average speed is 100 mph!

It probably looks like that, due to compression or reducing the frame rate for file size savings.

As for the software, not 100% sure which one it is, but I've seen it on other cars. NOLA Sport does all the maintenance, installations, etc. on his car. He just shows up & drives fast. If you want the same exact stuff you could try calling them. I don't think its a proprietary Porsche thing.

I've seen this system on the cars at the Extreme driving experiences, and it looks to be the same:

You are correct. It is real time. I didn't think to pull out a stop watch and match the time on the screen. Could be the compression of the video or frame rate. Or, it simply could be that he's hauling a$$. I've got to look into that software if I decide to take the car to the track with any consistency. I looked at a bunch of his other videos. He's racing things from Porsche's to offroad. Interesting.

April 9th.

Hey, this is a fun one....I'm in the process of ordering all the parts through Shelby to build a SS clone. I had no idea you can actually do that until I went to Shelby HQ. They don't sell the hood, wheels, and emblems. But, they sell everything else. I don't care about the emblems because I wouldn't put them on a car not built by Shelby to begin with. The wheels are Weld wheels and Weld Racing sell something very very similar, and I found someone that could fabricate the hood. I'm shopping for a 2015 GT with 15k-30k miles on it for relatively cheap money to build. I want to have something that runs as well as the SS does that I can beat the crap out of, but won't cry for years if I run it into a retaining wall (destroying that 50th anniversary model super snake would really ruin my day).

I plan on driving the 50th Anniversary SS, but I really got bit by running that road course in Pahrump. Plus, using their pick list of parts I know I don't have to tweak anything to make it all play nice together. So, I may be turning some wrenches soon after all! God knows where I'm going to find the time and my wife is about ready to kill me. But you only live once right?

You can buy the wheels from shelbys Ebay page from time to time when they take a set off a customers car for some strange reason. They don't have any up right now but I've seen them several times. My guess is that with your relationship with Shelby you could prob get them to hold the next take off set for you and avoid Ebay fees.

Secondly, if you just want one to beat on you don't need the hood. (Or the wheels really, as this can be achieved with any like wheel).

Just get the suspension and performance mods and your set.

I guess if you have the dough for this, more power to you. But why not just track your car. It's built for it. Building a second seems like your SS will just sit and then one day you will be wearing depends and wishing your SS wasn't going to your kids to sell and you had just enjoyed the hell out of it.

Oh, believe me that 50th anniversary model SS will be driven. It'll go to car shows, it'll be run at New England drag, I'll likely do some rallies, and it will spend lots of time driving my wife and I along the Maine/New Hampshire seacoast. Nothing will beat the oooh's and aaah's of pulling up in a SS that is also a 50th anniversary mustang. I'll enjoy the heck out of that as many times as I can during each summer. I'm just a little nervous being on a road track with other cars at high speeds passing and maneuvering. In that instance it's not just me I have to worry about. There are a couple of raceways in Massachusetts and New Hampshire that I'd love to run with a Super Snake-like car and not worry about being bumped from behind on a tight curve and spun into the wall.

The hood is actually a pretty important functional item. Believe it or not, according to the Shelby designers, the big scoop on the front coupled with the two vents near the windshield create enough airflow to reduce the engine compartment temp by about 100 degrees while running on a raceway. This goes a long way to preventing overheating. That combined with the extra cooling capacity they install and the huge double electric fans on the radiator keep the engine cool. Lastly that air is carried directly over the supercharger which goes a long way to removing the waste heat. The supercharger does use a cold air intake to start with cold air, and it has an intercooler, but the air passing over the supercharger adds even more means of cooling the supercharger. The design of that scoop and its opening towards the leading edge of the actual hood is designed to limit the boundary air effect from the aerodynamics of the car. It also is carbon fiber so it reduces weight. However the factory hood is not that heavy so it may only offer a few pounds of reduced weight which is not really important. Regardless, they put a lot of thought into that hood and it truly is functional.

The wheels are kindof important as well. If you look at them, they are like twigs reaching from the middle to the outer rim. They are 100% aluminum. So, they are about as light as they can be while still being strong. They are also 20" which gives very little sidewall so the car has very little sideways lateral tire roll around corners. So, they are strong, light, and tall, which all contribute to track performance http://weldwheels.com/shop/ccwheel/s...red/sp540.html https://weldwheels.com/weld-partners...helby-mustang/
