De-Carbing Mufflers

Any idea how to clean carbs from inside the mufflers?

The tone/sound has gotten deeper/quieter since its been on a while, I know that's normal but I'm wondering if there's a way to get that initial "loud"ness again.

Thanks!

I'll try this on since no one does this.

Depends on the muffler. If it's a muffler with packing, I'd say you are out of luck. If it's a chambered muffler or no-packing straight through, solvent inside the muffler should dissolve any deposits.

No packing in those but, I'd say you are probably just getting used to it, rather than them getting quieter.

If they were packed mufflers like the Bassannis I have, they'd get louder over time if anything. My Dynomax Ultras sure did and these ones I have on my 2000 are 15 year old original to the car and look brand new and sound ridiculously good. Yet another knock against chambered mufflers.

But yes filling a bigass bucket with an appropriate cleaning solution and soaking them should to the trick. Then let them drain and air dry for a bit before re-install and prepare for a mini smoke show.

If it's getting too quiet, just have the resonators removed.
