Circle D 5c or 4c?

Hey guys I found somebody selling a circle d 5c. I originally was told to get a 4c. What do you guys think about the 5c? The car is basically a daily driver I take it to the track sometimes and also some Street races in Mexico 😊

How much is the 5C selling for? Also there was a change in the converters made 4/15/14 by Ford so you would need to know what year car it's coming out of and the build date of the converter.

The converter has 9k miles and he is selling it for 800 obo. It's coming off of a 2012 5.0 and was bought from circle D in June 2014.

This one will work for you and also has the appropriate changes made by Circle D to fit all the years. Sounds like you could get it for $750 which would be a good price and these things don't wear out.

I sold mine for $850 shipped just for a point of reference. I think it cost me around $60-$70 to ship it.

So would the 5c be any better or worse then the 4c in my setup? I've looked threw many forums and don't see many 5c guys. I see more 4c then anything.

5c here and I dd it when the weather is nice. A bit big with 331 gears but perfect with my 390 gears for DD.

UrMaster the 5C flashes at 4200 rpm right? seems kinda high for a DD but ive never ran a converter so I really have no clue. There are like 3 videos on youtube with the 4C and 5C converters in a DD setting but the videos are not to good and there is no review about the converter by the person video taping. Oh and GrabberBlue5.0 ive looked on a few forums and seen where guys are saying the Circle D converter is loud and makes a grinding noise then some say they don't have that problem. Was this an issue with circle D early on?

I never heard of any grinding noise issues. Mine never gave me any problems.

I think the 4C is what you'd be a little more comfortable with.

I think you're right about the 4C.
So I Googled "circle D converter noise" and quiet a few problems pop up when it comes to the noise issue. Different vehicles also. Dodge, Chevy and ford. Im gonna wait for Mike to return my email and im going to call Chris at circle D just to see what they think then pull my wallet out at that point.

Yeah. It's not bad with good gearing though. That's what it'll shoot to if you stomp it. Just accelerating light to light it usually sits around 2500. And yes they rattle. My first one did it bad. Chris sent me a new one with a new design. The new one rattles some but not as bad. They only do it in neutral. No getting away from it I guess. He said it's not detrimental in any way.

That's another reason I should buy new. Sounds like Chris has done some updating as time has gone by and I want the latest updated converter. It looks as if my search was accurate about the noise as well. Grabberblue5.0 makes no noise and yours does and this is your second one. I'm glad I brought up this topic because if I spent the money, installed the converter and it made a noise I'm sure my heart would drop. I'm going to ask Chris all the questions I'm asking you guys and I'm gonna see what he says. Now I can ask him why some make noise and some don't.
