2011 Mustang GT hood rust

I've got a 2011 GT that has hood rust (or corrosion). I see that other owners have had the same thing. Anyone know if Ford is repairing this under4 warranty ???

Not on that car. Most likely your warranty is long gone. Your best bet is to find a nice aftermarket hood you like and buy it.

From what people say they only have a history of honoring the paint on these for the 3yr 36k. I had mine re-painted a few months back at the very first sign of bubbles on my 14.

When mine starts I am going with a different hood. It looks like it was touched up on the underside already... Not sure if I want ram air AND heat extractors. Kind of like this one: BMC Black Mamba II Mustang Hood - Unpainted BMC-GTV6MAMBAII (10-12 GT, V6) - Free Shipping

I clean the under of mine and put 1-3 coats of wax on it. My hood already has paint damage from our nasty city water so I have been looking at options.

That's exactly the one I'm selling, it's already painted sterling grey though.

2011 Mustang GT hood rust

Good quality, little to no prep work. Just looking to go back to stock.

I took mine in a couple months ago for this. Their computer flagged it for being beyond 3/36 before they could even finish. Will not cover it.

I doubt it.

My 13 was repainted a year ago, then almost to the date the corrosion is back in a different spot. Currently waiting for a new hood, been 2 months. My dealer says the 13-14 hoods are on national backorder with no eta right now. They've got a couple waiting.

So many of these develop it, bubbles on the lip, then rust and once it starts its nasty. I switched to the Cervinis Type 4 ram air style fiberglass through AM. Although it was a hefty purchase $600 for the hood, $400 for paint and install, it's been worth it. It definelty sets the car apart looks wise. More unique than most other mods.

I have the extended warranty also. Only the standard warranty covers this.

It is frustrating. I own 5 vehicles now, 2 of them are over 20 years old. They have their original paint and are still in great shape. No rust.

Just a good excuse to buy an aftermarket hood. I love the Trufiber one a lot of ppl get.

2011 Mustang GT hood rust

I'm assuming if Ford re-prepped it and painted then it would do the same thing down the line? What if an independent shop did it, same issue? Does anyone know the average cost for a hood paint-n-prep? (not under warranty). I like the stock hood since it matches my visor lids!

With minimal prep work a hood is going to be in the $400-$600 range. If you get some ebay special that needs filling and sanding and whatever expect to pay more.

Got mine repainted under warranty 2 days before my warranty expired. The dealership I took it to has a lifetime warranty on work they do so if it ever happens again I'm covered. 👍🏻
