Finally Ford Acknowledges Ticks

I just read on another Forum. and thought I would forward this to you guys and gals.

TSB 14-0156 For an Itermittant Metallic type tick/rattle
TSB 12-08-14 For the "BBQ" Tick
My 11 GT, MT-82, 24k mi, build date of 7-10 started to make the "bbq" tick out of nowhere. It also had a very slight lower end "thump" noise.

I don't have the TSB numbers on hand. However, I went ahead and replaced the front cover with one with provisions for a tensioned A/C belt instead of the stretchy belt per TSB. I have seen the undue stress the stretchy belt puts on your compressor and most importantly front main and seal, it's a stupid design.

While I had the cover off I went ahead and replaced the RH primary timing chain tensioner and guide per another TSB that covered a "intermittent metallic type noise when warm".

Something important to note, the original primary chain tensioner is a ratcheting type tensioner. The "updated" design is a hydraulic only type.

After repairs the noise is GONE

I'll run by my Ford dealer Monday to see what they will say. I bought my 11' GT used from a Non-Ford dealer, tried Ford dealer first but they didn't have any V8 Stangs on the lot at the time so I was outta there... lol

Found the factory departure date: 06/23/2010
First registered: 10/20/2010 with 80 miles....
But lien reported:07/15/2011 with 2,467 miles...
Yet my oil change I got 2 days ago didn't make the list.....

Well, Ford dealer said its ticking alright. They are backed up until Late October. Going to run by the Mopar dealer I bought it from to make sure their warranty will cover it and make sure I get a loaner when it's time.
Loaner car abuse time!!! Lol
Just kidding, not sure I even want to do this because my car will be gone up to a 1-1.5 week(s) and I won't have the keys to it. Recording miles and imperfections.

This is nothing new. The tsb has been out for quite some time now.

They said they would cover it no problemo, even a 5 day rental car... Except, it stopped ticking again so I gave up on getting it done. They haven't checked which design it is (neither have I).

Finally Ford Acknowledges Ticks

She is at the local Ford dealer getting the timing chain tensioner done. Everything is covered except the water pump and ac belt which are supposedly apart of the TSB. Mopar says they can only enter one failed part in the system.

Next time I buy a car from a dealer, it will be a Ford from a Ford dealer Certified Pre-Owned.
