Rear end gear noise.

Ok so for brevity I wont go into detail about why I have a total replacement rear end housing in my car or why we didn't go with one from ford. It's a long story. But I will say that a new complete rear end was found from a company that said it had little to no miles on it with a warranty etc and it came off of a mustang. So it's an exact replacement.

The thing is I can hear the gears turning when I'm driving the car and I have the back seats pulled down. Highway speeds wind noise etc drowns it out. I can only hear it when I'm slowing down and the car is idling and the rousch axle backs are quiet.

When I go to take off I can hear it a little but it's drowned out by my mufflers.

I had the shop check the fluid levels again. They drained some and filled t back and said it all looked normal and that I shouldn't worry about it. Worst case it's covered under warranty they said.

Maybe I'm just being over sensitive just having my car repaired but I'm pretty sure I didn't have a rear end noise this noticeable before.

The gear noise doesn't sound bad in and of it self. It just sounds like gears turning.

I have a 14 gt with 3.73s and I have a slight whine from mine driving down the road at around 60 to 65 mph... I think my sound is due to the after market suspension stuff that I have in the car and more driveline noise resonating through the car? Do you have any after market poly bushings in the rear suspension? That could be the source of your noise.

Possibly. Pretty much a rebuild from an accident. I also have a slight squeak going on back there when I pass over bumps. I'm starting to think they maybe over tightened some bolts to maybe the LCAs. I plan on replacing those soon anyways.
