So they got the fitment down too? No more black taping or whatever it was before?

Yeah no more tape. I will say the fit is still not PERFECT but it's pretty dang good. I'm picky and I'm fine with it.

Remove old panel (13-14) by removing 2 screws on the inside of the old panel then slide a plastic scraper or similar flat plastic tool under panel to pop the 10 tabs

Old panel removed:

What you are left with:

Size:	55.3 KB
ID:	191336

Tape off area you will cut (the "hump") and depending on the tool you choose to make the cut, you may want to cover the surrounding areas to protect them from sparks ect:

I started off using a dremel with a cutting wheel on the top area. I did this because I was not sure how much room I would have for a body saw on the inside of the decklid. Once I got the top half circle done with the dremel I went to the body saw and finished off the rest. Then cleaned up the hole with a sanding drum on the dremel

At this point RTR has supplied a wax or oil junk to put on the bare metal to keep your Decklid from rusting. Well for me I'd rather use touch up paint or a actual metal primer. I used touch up paint. Did a few coats and let it dry. Then I decided to cover the holes with some vinyl I had laying around. RTR does not supply this. I suppose they assume your decklid won't leak because of the way they 3m tape the panel. But I'd rather cover the holes now and not have to pull the panel off later when it leaks.

Now you can use the supplied alcohol pad and adhesion promoter to prep the decklid. Make sure you reference the tape on the panel to see where the prep needs to be.

Pull the red covering on the tape in the center areas completely (you can't access this area later) and then you can pull the tape on the surrounding edges but only enough where you can have the tab sticking out from the edge. This way you can get the panel just right being careful not to let it settle until it's just right. Let the center area stick, then you can pull the tabs you made on the surrounding edges and press and seal the panel down. Now proceed to remove the lame "RTR" sticker on the bottom corner and your done

Well you have to think of all the people who had orders placed while it was out of stock. They will get it then whatever would have been left would be put on the shelf. This is going to keep happening. Put your order in now if you want it.

Financially dumb? Have you seen the demand for this stupid friggin piece? They sell like hot cakes. Sold out on the first day. There's millions of people with the 10-14 body style that hate the faux gas cap. If they just popped out some plastic pieces, they can do it again. And sooner, rather than later.

I'm sure they can meet demand if they wanted too. there's not much to the product. $160 is not a lot of money but for what it is it's not cheap. I say it would be dumb because if they mass produced and it was readily available the price would be less then what it is. Since ppl have trouble getting one they will pay the price and it would not surprise me if they jack the price up.

I suppose, but I'd think emails would go out to everyone who inquired about it (put their info down), only seems fair. My car is in the shop as we speak. They have one more chance. If not I have a shop that's willing to replicate the piece.

Thanks for recommending that site. They have 15% of BMR products right now. Looks like I'll get my LCAs from them.

No problem bud lol, anything to help a fellow stanger. They have some good deals on stuff usually. And at the time, they were the only ones selling the decklid so I jumped on it last summer.

Starting to question whether I ordered it in time or not. Got the email at 4:10pm, ordered at 4:36. Got an email saying it was out of stock and I could wait it out, or get a refund blah blah blah, but I think it's just a protocol because they don't have them on hand yet. Hopefully lol.
