Passenger seat delete and airbag system

I want to remove my passenger seat. As we all know the passenger seat has a side airbags built in. How do I make sure the rest of the airbag system still work and the Airbag light on the dashboard is not triggered?

I will check my service manual to see if it specifies a resistance across the airbag to test it electrically. If i can find that value, you will just jumper the pins for the air bag on the connector between the seat and the car with a resistor matching that value, which will fool the SRS controller into thinking that there is an airbag in service.

Proving to my fellow racers that the disdain that some GT drivers have for V6 drivers is unfounded, one results archive at a time since 2013.

That sounds cool.

Anyone Mustang parts store is selling that kind of resistor for passenger seat deletion?

RadioShack will have what you need, as long as you know what the resistance and wattage is supposed to be. It will cost less than $5.

This is a very good write up. It seems that for 2011-12 Mustang, the system looks for 1.7 to 2.5 ohms. Not sure about the 2013-14 Mustangs.

Yeah, it appears to be between 1.7 and 2.78 ohms in the 2014 service manual
