It's simple. I have more than one vehicle and I like to keep them clean. Why would I want to try and keep up with cleaning two of them during the winter months? It is an almost impossible task here in the Northeast. Also, why would I want to risk some clown sliding into my Mustang on icy or snow covered roads? It's just not worth it to me. And finally, when spring arrives, and I pull the Mustang out of the garage for the first time, it is like getting a brand new car again.

This pretty much sums it up.

Not on the new sticky tires. I've had my own Hunter balancer for over 15 years and I won't balance a set of the new sticky stuff unless they were just run and warmed up (or brand new of course).

I feel bad for the guy who has non stock stickies and balancing issues, drops the car off the night before in 40-50 ish degree temps, it sits all night, and then the tires get pulled and balanced.

I got a set of these from a guy at Carlisle for $150

Race Ramps FlatStoppers RR-FS - Free Shipping on Orders Over $99 at Summit Racing

and use them on my drag radials on Capri. Work great, thinking about getting the smaller set for my EVO that has ADVAN AD08R's on it.

Oh, it's rusting. Not sure how much salt they use up there, but here you have months and months of freeze/thaw cycles every day. The base I work at salts almost every day, no matter what the weather is. No way I would ever buy a used car (like a nice mustang) that I planned on keeping, if it was from this area and driven in winter.

Drive or store, it's all a matter of personal choice.

Last winter a few of us got hammered out here for storing our cars.

What fits your plan might be different than the other guy. Doesn't mean either are right or wrong, just have different agendas.

I'll continue to store all three of my cars because that's important to me.

I park on folded up cardboard with 5 extra psi. Flat spots are more from the past but easy/free
cover cowl intake and exhaust with painters tape (critters)
either a commercially available "Mouse Magic" or what I do is cotton balls with a mix of spearmint/peppermint oil (same as MM) replaced 1x month
leave hand brake off
either a battery tender or charge for a few hrs 1x month
I pull fuel pump relay/fuse before starting after storage to prime oil pump (I do NOT start during storage.
your OLM will count time during storage remember this and change oil accordingly. if it'll need it in January I would change it now.
cover it.

Make vroom vroom noises for 6 months.

most of this is not important but stable and battery are. Others won't do anything, others will drive all winter.
These are all excellent. Battery tender and fuel stabilizer are best.
The noises you can make while in the garage staring are optional.

Pretty much, does get tricky up near DC, Fairfax, Alexandria area if it snows more than like 3-4 inches, which it usually does.

Lucky you , but I've witnessed it on my own balancer with both drag radials and
"streetable" road course type tires. Don't have to take my word for it, but it does happen.

When I go to take it out of storage and put the battery back in what I need to plug in the handheld and reinstall the custom tune?

Mine went into storage this last weekend - they are predicting 2-11 inches of snow this weekend. Happy to know my Vert is nice and safe. Put 00000 steel wool in the quad pipes. Put dryer sheet in an open bag in the trunk - one under each seat and one on top of the engine. Have a battery tender to hook up once a month - will have to take the cover half off to get to the hood latch - ugggh. She is on plastic then cardboard then carpet. She is in neutral and will roll her every two weeks 8-10 inches back and forth. Will charge her up once a month. Put the stab-il in. Used it all - but I don't think it will hurt it. Filled her with premium and upped the PSI on the tires. Cleaned her of course prior to storage. We do have 2 Mustangs though and the other one will be driven when the roads are decent and when snow covered we have a beater 4 wheel drive Chevy pickup that works great in the snow. I want my car to be mint so I can give it to my godson when I can't drive her anymore.

Next on the list is to move South where we don't have to store either vehicle anymore - hopefully within 5 years! Florida would be nice Cape Coral - great town. Have a good friend who lives there. Wouldn't mind joining her!

Been nice in Michigan the past few days...snow is melting like crazy, asphalt is busting up and making our roads even worse from the freeze/thaw/freeze/thaw rollercoaster, and I can actually see some grass in my yard!

Well right this minute it's 64 degrees F outside so I'm going to take my semi-hibernated Mustang out for some fresh air.

It was in the high 40's here all last weekend, so I had her out of the garage and put about 300 miles on her. Funny thing was how sore my left leg was from using the clutch for the first time in 2 months.
