Ditching eibach pro street junk.

Since day one the eibach pro street coil overs have been junk. Leaking then fixed, making noise then fixed and now making noise again. I'm going to replace everything! I am lowered and want to keep it that way and I also want a decent ride so what route should I go?

Gonna look it up right now. Will the struts accept the gt500 strut mounts?

Right now I have no strut mounts. The coil over sits directly on top of my maximum motorsports caster plates. It has no rubber saddle and that's how the instructions said it should be. I'm thinking that might be part of the popping noise I'm hearing AGAIN!

The car has 12700 miles. I just drove it last week on a 150 mile trip. on the 150 mile trip it was perfectly fine, no noise. I decided to take the Mustang out today and stretch her legs and the noise appeared as soon as I left my driveway. This may not be eibach but guys I know with just springs and not coil overs tell me they have never had an issue. With mine it's every 3000 miles.

So I took the entire unit off the car. Inspected everything and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. The stock strut mount bearing was used with the maximum motorsports CC plates and it does have some play in it but it had play on the stock unit and made no noise.

I am looking into the Steeda Coil Over Kits when I pull the trigger...any reviews/opinions?

http://www.steeda.com/2011-2014-coilovers/

It says: The front coil over system is designed to use our exclusive upper strut mount kit which eliminates the weak factory upper spring perch which is prone to “popping” with increased spring rates and provides +/- 1 degree of camber adjustment not available with the factory mount.

I am very surprised to hear this.
I have been using all Eibach stuff for decades and have never had a problem.
I wonder what happened in this case?

+10 on that! WTH!?! You're not playing with us are you? Noise like that seems like you could find it real quick!

K1, sounds like you have to purchase the Steeda strut mounts also, unless they come with the kit? I bought them after I lowered the car and like other Steeda parts, just awesome!

Update: I worded one of my posts a little wrong. The MM caster plates uses part of the OLD strut mount. The front springs DO sit on the stock sadel (very thin). But anyways like I said I took the entire coil over out, checked it out, removed the spring, took the cheap factory plastic bearing out and Inspected everything (all ball bearings still there). During the removal of everything all bolts were tight. Installed it back on the car and the noise is gone! LOL. So I don't know guys.

Here is a picture of the stock spring purch that's replaced but the MM caster plates. Notice that the stock bearing that's known for failing is still used. When I bought the caster plates I thought for sure I was junkies the factory junk but the instructions says clear as day to reuse the crap parts. So in eibachs defence this time it may not be on them. But that's still undetermined.

That's why we don't blast vendors until we are "sure".
Glad it's starting to work out for you.

Like I said before and have posts about eibach problems and leaking. Then they wanted to charge me more money to fix it then a NEW coil over. So I have all the right to blast them. They took there sweet time while they had my shock as well.

All I can think of when you mention the stock bearings in those mounts is canning jar lids being formed to make those. One of mine pulled apart in my hand upon removal. I also thought I could swap the ball bearings with bb's if I had to. Definitely not a strong point for ingenuity or longevity. Cost savings? I'd guess right up there!
Definitely stinks to get the runaround or seemingly put off by any company you patronize.

Just got out from under the car and was making sure it's not a ball joint etc. Guess what I see! Passenger side eibach looks to be leaking. It's not a whole lot of oil but it sure wasn't nice and clean like the other shocks on the car.

I'm hoping I don't have this problem. I'm almost done installing my suspension, and also have MM CC plates.

I have the MM plates on my car as well. I didn't have to reuse anything from the old struts so I'm not sure what differs in the installation, but mine are perfect.

Do coil overs span 05-14 unlike the stock struts for 05-10 and 11-14 where you have be sure to get the corresponding year strut mounts?
I don't think these would come apart if I hit them with a hammer!

The disc is a spring perch. I'm using the stock size springs. Looks like the bearing is in that CC plate from the picture, but it's hard to tell. I can't imagine them not supplying them.

I read the instructions and I didn't see anywhere where you re use the bearing.
The new bearing is in the new plate. Why did you feel the need to reuse any old parts?
Did it say so in the instructions?

Fabman: On my #15 post I put up a picture. If you see on the instructions it says to use the stock spring perch. My stock perch has a plastic bearing that also get reused. There is no other way around it unless there is an aftermarket bearing that's not housed in plastic like the cheap OEM one. I know guys use the GT500 strut mounts because of the upgraded bearing and thicker spring saddle but the gt500 style for stock style springs and from what I've gathered it wont work for my coil overs. As if right now if the suspension isn't popping or creaking then its leaking hahahaha. I really don't want to buy a new setup but gosh. I'm in the market for a Circle D converter, not a redo on the suspension.

We must be talking about two different things. That pictures shows a strut top with the spherical bearing in it where the shock goes through. That's the part that fails in the old style like mine. I don't know what's different in yours but there is a picture of a strut top with the bearing installed in your pic of the instructions, So I guess I am lost here.
