2015 "Brembos" on a 11-14

So for some of us that happened to have the 5.0 that didn't come with the brembos. I've stumbled onto a well what used to be a very cheap and easy way to get into a set of 4 piston ford "Brembos". I've finally figured out what has to be run in order to make these work. Mind you I got every thing for less then 300$ brand new. Click image for larger version

About to send them off to get powder coated before they go on 😁👍🏼. Not having big brakes on this car has been a never ending itch I couldn't scratch.

You can. eBay from Shelby American in LV. They lost a new set every other day it seems. 199.99 starting bid plus shipping.

I'd like to do that upgrade but then I would need new wheels.

As of now to make them fit, you'll need 11-14 Brembo brake lines, I went with Russell's front and rear lines, 11-14 Brembo specific rotors, 15-16 calipers, 15-16 brake pads (not sure if 11-14 Brembo pads work in these yet), and depending on wheels possibly a wheel spacer.

Now all you need to do is upgrade your puny 11.8" rear discs to the GT500 13.8" and you'll have a great brake setup...and the rear can be done for about $300 also...and they fill up all of the empty space in the 20" wheels.
Picture on the left is the stock 11.8" discs and the one on the right is the 13.8" disc...the wheels are the 13/14 OE GT500's which are 20's.
Just a thought....................

I'm a noob in regards to brakes. Do you mind posting some links( like a vendor) to the brembo brake lines or russell brake lines you used for this.

2015 "Brembos" on a 11-14

Oh yes, I need to get on this.

Question: would the 13.8" 2015 rear disks and calipers work on our 2011-14 stangs?

I thought they only had 13" rear disc's, not 13.8.
I know the 15 has 3 different brake options....just didn't think they had the big rear brakes off the GT500.
Also, why do you want to use the rear 15 brake system as I thought it was the same as the 14....still has the single piston rear caliper?

The calipers come with the auction, so I was just wondering.

It says 13.8" big brake upgrade, I'm just going off of what it says.

First I don't know if these would fit as the 15 is an IRS type rearend....second is that to be able to put 13.8" rotors on a 13/14 you need to move the caliper up about 2" inches...this can be done with the stock OE GT500 caliper bracket which you will need to disassemble the rearend to install it(take the axles out) so I just don't see why you would want to buy the calipers and lines since they are the same as your 13/14....wasted money in my book.
If you don't want to pull your axles this is the bracket you need to buy;
05 14 Mustang 14" Rear Brake Rotor Adapter Brackets GT Boss 302 GT500 V6 13 8" | eBay
Then all you need are the 13.8 disc's and pads..............use your same caliper and lines..................then you will have the same brakes as the 13/14 GT500.

This is the Bracket you need for the rear to run the 13.8 2013-21014 GT500 rear rotors. You reuse your stock calipers and brackets. Click image for larger version

You can also use the actual brackets that come off the GT500 itself

Go look at the price of a whole Gt500 rear 13.8 brake setup and what all is involved in making it work. You might change your mind

I did the same adapter. Man it sure makes the mod easier than pulling axle shafts. I felt like it was worth the price.

Haha. I know guys. Two little adapters for $65/piece. Do you guys recommend those centric rotors from rock auto? And what pads should I go with?

I went with the bendix rotors from rock auto. Only thing I didn't like was that they are completely raw. So they would look like crap if you don't paint the parts that don't contact the pad. So I painted mine with an engine paint and they still look good. Went with hawk pads, I don't know that I recommend them as they create a TON of brake dust. But they don't squeak so that's a plus.

You can buy the OE GT500 adapters for $150, drain the rearend, take off the cover, take out the C clips, then pull the whole brake system off the housing, put the GT500 adapters on, put the brake system back together, put the axles back in, put the C clips in, put the rear end cover back on, spend money for the fluid and friction modifier...........this would take you a whole day when you can buy the brackets for $130, buy OE disc's from Ford for $182 for the pair and $55 for the ceramic pads...............took me about 1 hour to change everything and the hardest part was screwing the caliper pistons back in to put the new pads on..well worth it if you ask me. Also, please prime and paint the raw aluminum before you put them on....since alot of you guys live East of the Rockies...

The ebay listing by shelby includes the 2015 rotors. Did you use the 2015 rotors that come with the calipers? I ask because you state that 11-14 specific brembo rotors are needed. Just wondering why the 2015 rotors can not be used with the 2015 calipers. Thanks again for all the info you have provided.

You cant use the 2015 rotors because like wheels, rotors have different offsets. that being said once you mount up the caliper from the 2015-2016 on a 2011-2014 spindle it is set up in the right spot to run the 11-14 rotors. I wish I had a picture of them side by side because the 2015 rotors sit to far back for the caliper to mount onto the spindle.

Hopefully this explains how this works a bit better.

Ok, the way you explain it makes sense now. Best place to find some 11-14 brembo rotors at a decent price would be ebay then I'm guessing? I like the idea behind all this it's just a matter of finding everything at a good price to make it all work.

I got some one to trade me new rotors for rotors. But your best bet is to try Rockauto.com the prices they have on brakes is ridiculously cheap. Just make sure your looking at rotors that are the 14" ones for Brembos and not the 13" regulars.
