3rd gear lockout after clutch upgrade

I recently installed mcleod twin disc rxt clutch. Not sure if it was pure coincidence but after I installed the clutch, the 2nd to 3rd gear will grind (not engage) every single time when I try to shift fast when racing. I've tried over 50 times, nothing.

Now if I do granny shifting 2nd to 3rd (letting rpms go down a bit, like 1 sec between engaging clutch and shifting to 3rd), it does work fine.

This used to happen rarely when drag racing/High RPMs a while ago, but after I installed the MGW shifter it went away. However, now it does it all the time.

I'm thinking it's either the 3rd gear synchro or clutch slave cylinder/throwout bearing that I didn't change when I installed the clutch.

Has somebody experienced something similar or know.

agree, I will be installing new clutch line along with throwout bearing/slave cylinder to see if that makes a difference.

I would at least make sure to bleed it again, and make sure it's done correctly. I don't know the correct procedure for bleeding clutch lines but i'm sure people on this forum do. I seem to recall a member having this same issue, and it turned out to be air in the clutch line.

they are self bleeding, you just pump the clutch pedal one gazillion times. After replacing my line I had to repeat it the next day but only about 100 times. Keep an eye on brake fluid (shared reservoir) I doubt it's the problem....I didn't notice any thing after doing my line (did as preventive) but I liked the theory of replacing it.

I would say 3rd gear synchro, change the transmission oil and look for metallic particles by putting it in a glass bottle and holding it out in the Sun

Does double clutching make it easier to get it into third?

yes it does help, but maybe it's just that since double clutching takes longer.

I'll be replacing throwout bearing, pilot bearing and stainless steel clutch line to see if all that helps.
