2013 5.0 Camshafts

sorry to bug everyone about this topic again but i am a noobie with Cams. i tried searching for several posts to get some input but mostly all of them are pissing matches.

i have a few upgrades on my 5.0 and was wondering if it is worth it to get stage 3 cams. i do not care about the Lobe sound, just HP.

Upgrades:
1) Ceramic Long Tubes
2) Off Road X
3) 4.10s

Possible future updrages: (If worth it)
1) Steeda CAI (Steeda Mustang Cold Air Intake - Manual 555-3155 (11-14 GT) - Free Shipping)
2) Stage 3 Comp cams (Comp Cams Stage 3 XFI NSR Mustang Camshafts 191160 (11-14 GT) - Free Shipping)

the steeda CAI clains 44HP gain with a BAMA Tune, i think they are blowing smoke but does anyone one what will be my expected gains with the LT, CAI, Cams and BAMA Tune? and is it worth it?

labor will be done by my personnal mechanic along with my help, so no monvey issues on that end. THanks for the helo everyone.

2013 5.0 Camshafts

...........................๐Ÿ˜• I was going to help till I saw

Is the car auto or stick?
Boss manifold or CJ will be needed to take advantage of the stage 3 comps. As well as a good valve spring ( at least the ones from the boss ) even though they are a "NSR" cam

sorry about that. The car is stick.

I saw so many negative reviews on the Boss manifold due to its capacity to produce HP above 6.5 RPMs. Will the Valve springs allow me to get more RPMs? if so, than I will purchase the manifold and intake.

I had purchased the BAMA tuner due to its reliability. It is very user friendly and convenient. There are a couple of dyno shops around my area than can provide tunes. I will check them out and ask them.

do you recomend any tuning shops in Houston?

i never upgraded to aftermarket camshafts i have no idea if comp cams are good. i am not sure if there are any better brands outthere. what will be best for the daily driver and occasional drag racing? not looking to lose power at low end either.

This forum has mention before by rap and others that the comp cams are garbage. You would be better off getting custom grind

Unless you are shooting to build an NA package capable of 8000 rpm, cams aren't really worth it on this engine. All they'll do is suck your driveability away but if you aren't able to exploit the additional rpm with better valvesprings, CJ, OPGs, etc. there is no point.

I'm in the same boat, I am interested in installing cams. I want an aggressive cam, I have installed the cobra jet with twin 65mm TB, American racing long tubes, also in the process of installing nitrous outlet 150 shot with a Nano setup. Any suggestions would be great, I don't mind buying a kit with springs also!

Cams are going to compound the effect a boss manifold would have. They move the power band into the higher RPMs and suck away power from your low end. Drivability should still be pretty good as long as you get cams that don't require locking out variable cam timing, and have a really good tuner working on your car.
Are they worth it? Probably only if you plan on staying NA forever or want more power than the block can handle without being re-sleeved. You'll need exhaust and an intake manifold (boss or cj) to take advantage of them, and probably an aftermarket clutch to be able to shift at the necessary RPM.
