New Hood Installed... Cervini Cobra R

So awhile back my car was vandalized and my hood was damaged.

Unfortunately Ford has recalled all the new hoods for our cars so good luck getting a replacement if any of you guys ever damage your current hood.

So I decided to go with the cobra R replacement hood from Cervini. I haven't seen any pictures of these posted here before so I thought I would share. Overall I think it came out pretty good.

What do you guys think?

Thus far, I'm mainly just happy to have my car back (it was in the bodyshop for over 5 weeks). But the larger cowl gives you the impression you're driving a racecar - which I like. The downside its impossible to see the right fender now, so the lack of vision bothers me a little.

Here's a picture:

Honestly why would anyone get a stock hood for a replacement anyways?

Because Ford is covering the replacement under warranty?

IF they didn't have the paint issue then I would get another stock hood, but they seems to have a paint issue... haha

Stock hood matches my visors as well....

Looks nice. But yeah, the cowl (I have the Revelare Designs cowl hood) makes it tough to see things off the right fender. Be sure to look way ahead - I managed to find an island in the middle of the mall parking lot this week that I didn't see (since there were no lights or trees and shrubs on it) and screwed up my chin spoiler!

I don't know if they used a kit or not... but the nozzles appear to have been relocated inside the screened vents under the cowl of the hood.

The body shop made the same recommendation. I think the small rear spoiler looks more out of place to me than the lack of stripes. I put GT500 stripes on my last mustang and that was such a pain I'm hesitant to ever go back there.

Could you please provide more details about the hood recall? I made a quick search but get nothing.

The hood corrosion issue does bothers me. Or the recall is for something else.

Thanks in advance.

It isn't a recall. It is the corrosion issue you are referring to

My old hood had some paint flaking/pealing around the edges too.

I don't know the extent of the recall... But the body shop told me when they contacted our local Ford dealer they found all replacement hoods had been recalled so no replacements were available anywhere.

Thus, at least for right now, it sounds like our only options are to go used or aftermarket.

The first year I had my car the hood had some bubbling above the passenger headlight. I took it back to the dealer because it was still under warranty. This is what they told me. They had a lot of Mustangs (13 & 14 year) that had this problem because the hood is two pieces pressed together and crimped around the edges. Air was getting in on some of the crimped areas and would cause bubbling with the paint. They fixed my hood, sanded, and repainted the entire hood. It looks great and I haven't had any problems since. I like the Cervini hood, it looks awesome on that blue stang. I'm gonna get a hood from StreetBeat.com this spring to put on my car or a carbon fiber hood scoop from AM.

One interesting thing I've noticed... is that if you like attention this is the hood for you.

I feel like a guy walking around with a cucumber in his pants when driving now...hahaha.

Its too bad I don't have the money for a supercharger.

Its like everybody has to stop and look.

Don't need the money for a blower on a Coyote. Get you some gears and suspension, shifter (or converter) and a good tune and roll. Throw a big shot of nitrous on there for honestly not very much $$$ for times when you REALLY want to feel like you have a cucumber in your pants lol.

As far as your hood, it looks GREAT! You'll get used to the cowl, I had a Cervini's cowl on my 98. Fit and finish is great and quality is amazing.

Looks great man. I flip flop on hoods I like all the time, and this one is currently at the top of my list. I agree that some black to break it up would look great. My other top choice has always been the Trufiber one with the single hood scoop. I like how it keeps the stock heat extractors. This looks great though man, glad to see you're happy with it.

The hood looks really good but I agree - it needs a little black to break up all of the blue

Nope. I mean to each their own but no. The black hood thing is too reminiscent of the CF ricer hoods IMO.
