If price is not an issue, I'd choose the 2012 hands down no questions asked. I love that color combination with the wheels. So much more reliable power, and in my opinion looks a lot cleaner than that 2005. And I'm sure the interior in the 2012 is far superior. But as I always say, to each his own, it's your money, not mine!

I agree with this opinion; 100K is not extreme for these engines, and if it was well maintained, it will continue to run and perform well.

The carfax is an excellent idea; it will provide how many owners the car has been registered with, and perhaps some maintenance records if they were performed at dealerships or service establishments. If the maintenance was done by the owners, that won't show, but at least you'd have an idea as to how many owners the car had.

Honestly I think you could still do a lot better and just shop around some more. I would stay away from the 05 as they where a lot of issues with that year and the price is a bit high if you ask me.

The 12 is also a bit high if you ask me, I think you could find one for around 2k cheaper if you just keep looking.

RUN, do not walk, RUN away from that 2005. The 2012 looks like it'd be a good deal depending on what sort of condition the actual car itself is in. The engine should be fine, the trans you will need to give a good once over but it's probably fine as well. And its still a little overpriced IMO.

TBTH, if you are dead set on finding a real nice one I'd hit up some of the bigger forum classifieds and see if a private party enthusiast is selling something within reasonable driving distance. I've seen cars like that with half those miles sell for right at that price in mint garage kept shape and you get the meet the current owner and get a feel for if they are an idiot or not. Also with a car from a forum you can almost 100% of the time dig around in said forum and find posts by the owner and see what they were up to with the vehicle.

Damn these things are getting cheap now... Figure at this point the 45-70k mile ones that have just been daily'd for 3-5 years and paid off are going to start getting traded in left and right now. 5 year loans taken in 2010/2011 on the first Coyotes are up now.
