Mustang 5.0 GT 2011 automatic needs still more power

Hi everyone

Im from Europe Finland and need advice from fellow experienced Mustang drivers.

Last winter i install to my Mustang 2011 5.0 GT automatic Roush phase 2 supercharger kit, Roush suspension set and Roush 14" brakes. Pony got now 625 hp. Well summer has gone and still missing power. Because my car Is automatic i cant install Phase 3 upgrade!

Shall i change headers, mufflers etc and If so, how much more i get power and what parts got best money/quality/power ratio. Is there anything else to do.

Regads From Finland

If you haven't had your set up Dyno tuned, that should be priority 1. Depending on your current rear gears, lower gear gears will wake up your car out of the "hole" too.

Much as I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Finland a couple years back, I did not notice a plethora of Mustang tuning shops while wandering around the Helsinki area...nice architecture, lovely greenspace and hilarious people though

Not with the Roush blower. It won't help in this situation.

If you're on the stock Roush tune step up to a better tune. And then the next step would be a pulley swap.

Why not? Just curious...

I'm not trying to challenge, I'm just trying to learn

Thanks!

The torque conver helps you get out of the whole fast among other things. With a positive displacement blower you won't have any problem with that since it will be making boost instantly and be at full boost by 3000 rpm.

With that theory a 3000 stall would definitely help

hardly, unless you are driving around on a heated drag slick all the time.

The only time u need it is when it's time to race which at that point I'd hope your on a sticky tire. No point in a supercharger or converter if tour not gonna race the car. Converter should be the first mod on any auto Mustang.

Actually no. Again a loose converter matched with a TVS is overkill.

What's your definition of "overkill"? You really think your gonna get a better 60' with a stock converter vs say a 3 series circle d on a pd blown car?

Wrong. Even with a pd blower the engine is putting nowhere near the amount of tq to the ground off idle then it is at say 3000 rpm. A converter is definitely beneficial in reducing ET. For those that want to optimize their setup it's definitely not overkill.

Okay, then home come none of the guys with PD or TS blowers run an aftermarket converter? Surely one would think if it was to their benefit they would run one? How come Justin Starkey, owner of VMP ran a stock converter in their 8 second car?

Wouldn't you spin quite a bit more with a 3000 stall on a fi application?

Absolutely, especially on the street. You'll spin quite easily with just a converter never mind a PD blower.

Sure maybe if you have no idea how to hook a car.... Almost every auto yote aroind here that has a pd on it is running a converter. There's 3 I've seen and talked to the owners off the top of my head. Now none are running anything big like a 5k stall or anything but some stall is definitely beneficial. And of you can't get a 650 hp car to hook it doing something wrong..... I've seen 1000 hp cars hang the tire on the St. And for the record it's easy to hook these cars even on the street with just a converter and bolt ons with a DR. easily done with stock suspension also!
