Need to know your tire size, trans. gear and final drive ratio.
For example:
tire = 27" dia
6th gear = 0.65
rear end = 3.73
At RPM = 2000
Speed would = approx. 66 mph

I use this online calculator.

Speedometer, Gear Ratio, and Tire Size Calculator

Assuming it's fairly accurate, to be within the recommended 3% error range, you should be seeing between 64 and 68 MPH.

EDIT: My experience has been, it's kind of tough to distinguish exactly when you're at an exact RPM and a specific MPH.

I've used my GPS to compare #'s. With 3.73's that does sound like it's reading slow

Just an app. No dongles.
It will run off the phones gps, doesn't connect to he car in anyway. Mine is within 1mph. My Escort 9500ix is usually 0-2 mph off.

Yeah but what are you assuming is the correct one of the three?
The car's speedometer is only required to be within plus/minus 2.5% (from the factory) by federal law. So that's plus/minus 1.5 MPH at 60 mph.

I had a Diablosport Predator tuner, for my old Mustang, and you would look up the tires revolutions per mile, and put that into the programmer along with your rear gear ratio to set up your speedometer if that's what you are trying to do. Do you have a tuner?
