2013 Mustang GT Tapping / Knock Noise - Ford Refuses Fix! Help!

Hello All!,

So I took my car into Bob Wondries Ford in Alhambra CA for a loud knocking or ticking noise. After a week of going back and forth with the dealership, they said they could not find a fix for the issue and isn't something that can be fixed or replicated. I will post a link of the noise within this thread. I contacted Ford service and they advised me to take it to another dealership but I am still very concerned. Any suggestions guys?

Thanks in advance.

i have 13 GT as well, and from what it sounds like it mayyyy be normal. ive found the coyote to be pretty mechanical with its sounds. mine has a leak in the factory exhaust, injector ticks, things of that nature. while i cant say for certainty its safe, it could be nothing
wish i could offer more help, if youre really worried do a dynamic leak down or oil analysis
lemme know how you make out

Wondries is a total old-school "stealership". I'd avoid them like the plague. Get the car over to Galpin and have them look at it. I bought my car elsewhere (dealer wouldn't do a swap with Galpin), but I have all of my service done there. So far, totally honest and excellent service.

You don't have to keep the service at the same place you bought it. Ford Service can't recommend/favor dealerships directly for legal reasons, but "Take it to another dealership" probably meant "Take it to the biggest dealership/repair center in So Cal".

If they say it's normal, it probably is. It doesn't seem normal to me for a nearly new car, though, but I'm not Galpin's techs. Wondries and Glendale are a bit (in)famous locally for pushing problems away/not noticing them until the warranty is up and THEN working on it/finding it.

The guys at GAS are awesome as well. Just hold onto your wallet as cash seems to want to fly right out of it every time I'm in there looking at the bling and toys

Haven't at least a couple guys needed new shortblocks from the "ticking". One IIRC, had an out of spec cyl bore in one cyl or more??

Ya I wouldn't be happy about it. I know how annoying it is when a dealer refuses to repair a vehicle but it is their choice in the end as they are not owned by Ford. Take it to the other dealer and let us know the outcome.

Another dealer you can take it to, is Advantage Ford in Monrovia Ca. Great guys there, bought both my mustangs there. Great service and honest prices. Good luck, hopefully nothing to worry about.

I have a 2014 gt at 19k miles I had to have a new short block put in due to the ticking noise. I had my oil changed at a ford dealer and that same night is when the noise started. After a few trips to the dealer I finally got them to "hear" the noise. 14 days later I had my car back with a new short block. It now has 32k miles on it and I haven't had a problem since. I have a video of the car when it was making the noise.

Sounds just like my 08. Bad Cam Phasers. Had them replaced & within a few months the noise cam back. There's 3 little roll pins that hold the parts to the phaser's together & if they get bent a little or broken you get that sound. I was told by the dealership it wont hurt anything but I'll lose a slight bit of power. Hate the sound as it sounds like I'm low on oil all the time. Sound gets louder as the car warms up & almost sounds like a rod knock at normal operating temp. May not be your problem but sounds a lot like my car.

Man, that's hard to tell. If you were to rev the engine slightly, does the knock/ticking get worse?
