Brembo Brakes Retrofit on a 14 GT

Put my brembo brakes on my 14 GT tonight. I was planning on using my Cal Special wheels as I thought with them being 19" wheels they would fit. Well they didn't, hit the calipers. So I guess only track pack wheels fit over the brembo brakes. The Mustang will sit in the garage with no front wheels/tires for a while until I can get some new ones. What to get is my decision now. What is the wheel offset or any other specification needed for the wheels needed to fit over the brembo calipers?

Most aftermarket wheel setups made for the mustang will clear no prob. I have forgestar wheels and they have a ton more room than my trackpack wheels had.

Well I have an extra set once I get my powdercoated ones on. But devilstrider already claimed them. But I'm not sure if he is still interested.

Cool with me. That's actually perfect. How much is your powder coating going to cost?

Oh I did that long ago. They have been sitting in a box since like late October. But I didn't have time to do the swap before having to transfer for work and leave all my crap behind. Now my new calipers are somewhere in a storage unit until I get my new house. Powdercoating ran me like 250, but the guy does amazing work.

Also, sorry OP. I feel like we have jacked your thread. lol.

You have to change out the rotors when you go up to those, right? And about how much are those calipers?

That seems like it would not make sense. They have track pack options for GT/CS. You think if you option those, then they use the regular track pack wheels?

The GTCS doesn't come with a track option as far as I know (brembos). And to answer your other question about the rotors, yes you need the bigger rotors as well. You can find full kits as low as 600 with everything you need.

Op, you should just see if you can snag a set of used track pack wheels on Craigslist if you are on a budget.

This is correct. You cannot have a track pack GT/CS from the factory. It is either one or the other.

I am looking for the Ford track pack wheels and tires now. I started looking elsewhere as well. I like the Forgestar F14 wheels. A little pricey once you get good tires.

I've got a brand new set of Hawk ceramic pads front/rear for Brembo setup if anyone is interested.

I've noticed most of the 2016 California Specials at my local dealers have 3.55 gears. I guess since you can't get the full Performance Package, they're at least giving you the faster gears.

It's not an offset issues, it's the design of the spokes. Standard brakes do not have pistons on the outboard side like brembos. So same offset. And 14in brakes can actually work with some 18in wheels. It depends! I'M actually running 15in brembos with Trackpac 19in wheels.

Sorry but the whole 14" brakes will work with 14" wheels is just a false statement. Just because the rotor is 14" doesn't mean a small wheel will clear. Most brembos add a good 2-3" outward diameter.
