Yes, you can tie into the bypass line. I did exactly that and used the same gauge.

I drove the 'stang to work today (75 miles each way, all freeway) and got 26.1 miles per gallon, which I did not expect but was extremely impressed with. Pre-blower I could only manage around 22-24 at best. I kept my foot out of it though, obviously.

That's what blowers do, off boost, they increase the volumetric efficiency of the engine....to a point.
