Is this possible

My husband has a 2014 GT/CS 5.0 Premium Coupe bells and whistles. I guy asked if he could look under the hood and said no you don't have a coyote engine or it would say it along this side. Is that possible? I thought all GT 5.0 have the coyote engine in 2014?

The 5.0 is the coyote engine. The guy who said that is special.

c/s edition engine question

If you go to the 2014 Ford Mustang brochure(type that in the search bar) and scroll down to specs and you will see that the c/s edition is based on the GT Premium that is only available with the 5.0 engine. The California Special is the GT Premium with the 402A equipment package. Hopes this helps.

Yes, the NEW 5.0's from 2011-2014 are all Coyotes.... except the Boss 302's 5.0 engine. Those are technically called "Roadrunner"s. They have slightly better internals for higher RPM / track usage.

Get it...

Coyote chases the the Roadrunner....

and the Roadrunner is always a little faster.... unless the Coyote has boosters!!

Which is funny because IRL a Coyote is actually twice as fast as a Roadrunner. The animals I mean.

The guy is an idiot. Read up and learn about your car. I had a Direct TV guy at the house working on my dish. He started talking about my Mustangs parked in the driveway, and wanted to impress me with his stupidity. I finally had to tell him to stop embarrassing himself.

Guys love these cars and want to discuss them even when they don't have a clue.

What everyone else has said. Your motor is named a Coyote, and lots of motors have names, but they're not necessarily labeled on the engine. There are plates and accents you can get that say "coyote" that you can put on the engine. but yes, you have a coyote.

Thanks guys - we are new to Mustangs we both got 2014 GT/CS 2014's 5.0 last year and are trying to learn more about them and from everything I've read I was sure it was a coyote but my husband doesn't read about the cars as much as I do - he just loves driving it.

That's funny (you both got the same car last year). I bought 2 exactly alike last year for the wife/me too.

Is this possible

I had a similar case to yours. I have a 2012 CS and it had a GT/CS stripe on the side where the 5.0 badge usually goes. I was told several times by several different people that my car was not a 5.0, but a 4.6 GT because the 5.0 coyotes had 5.0 badges. I got so tired of explaining this to people that I eventually bought aftermarket 5.0 badges and replaced the stripes.

After a door ding (bad) on my 2011 GT/CS, i just left the stripes off after they repainted. With no badging people didn't really know what to make of it, I got a lot of "dang thats a fast V6".
With or without the badging though, the GT/CS 5.0 is a Coyote.
