You'll get biased answers in the GT section of course, but in my personal opinion the only engine that belongs in a Mustang/muscle car is a V-8.

Unless you're just completely sold on the new body style and that trumps everything else, get the GT.

it depends on what condition the GT is in. But if it's in good shape the V8 is more fun and depreciation has already hit it.

I'd get the GT. But what is your commuting/insurance situation? What interior do you prefer? What body style looks better to YOU?

Cost of each?

Condition of the used one? The 2016 I'm assuming is brand new.

Really the only reasons to go with the V6 is if you want a warranty, don't plan on racing or using the power, or want the new body style. In which case you would be better off saving for a new GT (Ive seen base models in the 27-28k range with incentives.

The V6's are fun cars but its really no comparison to a GT and with the 11-12 coyotes being 4-5 years old and with the new generations out they are getting down in price.

If your questioning the choice between the V6 vs.the V8 go with the GT. With a just out of the box V8 you'll have more fun. If you buy the V6 today, tomorrow you may wish you bought the V8 and beat yourself up time and time again. Buy what you really want today because tomorrow is too late to change. GO WITH THE GT!

Little different from my situation. But I just went from a 2012 V6 (same engine as 2016) to a 2014 GT.
GT All day everyday. Unless you really really care about getting a few more mpg's.
Nothing sounds better than a V8.

Plus, my 2012 3.7 averaged 24 mpg, my 2014 5.0 averages 22. So really just insurance is the downfall, may be a little more expensive with a 5.0

All that really matters is how much you want to spend. Let's assume the prices are relatively close to purchase both vehicles.

The V8 has more power, but the insurance and money spent on gas will be higher.

The V6 will have less power, but the insurance and money spent on gas will be less.

When I was looking to buy a my V6, I could have afforded a V8 no problem, but I wouldn't have had as much money to spend on other things like traveling, going out, modding, etc. If I were in the market today I would still probably opt for a V6 because I like how much money I keep after bills and such. I don't have a wife, kids, or a house, so the V6 for me allows me to basically do whatever I want, whereas the V8 I would have less financial freedom.

Take a test drive in both and do this:

Find a tunnel.
Put each in second gear as you approach.
Accelerate hard to 5,800 rpm with the windows down.

Once you do this, there really is no choice to be made.
