Easier to just trade in the car, it'll be near the same cost

I would think it's going to cost you about as much as ditching the MT82 and going with a Tremec Magnum.........plus with the auto you will need a good stall converter, or you could go this way...https://lmr.com/item/PAI-SS45103/201...-Smart-Package.

It's no small underrtaking but, it's been done many times. Look around S v tperformance for threads on it. The biggest hassle is getting the computer set up to work right and the ABS to work.

A place to start:

^^ Yep. I almost want to do the same thing to mine. Read through a couple threads of it being done and it doesn't seem impossibly difficult to do the swap. If you look around on eBay for used 6r80 transmissions, lots of them are listed for around $500, half the cost of used MT82 gear boxes. Of course you have a ton of parts to buy for the swap.

If you have to ask that question you are seriously better trading in your MT82 for an A6. If you have negative equity... well you are going to have to pay $$$ for the trans, the computer, harness, stall converter etc... etc... I guarantee its going to be cheaper to find a real nice 11-14 auto with low miles and sell yours/trade it.
