Installed off road pipe. Too loud!!

Today I installed my off road pipe paired with my already installed Borla ATAK cat back system. The car is now so damn loud it isn't even cool to drive. It's not even cool to start. I'm really thinking about putting the cats back on after only 5 minutes of driving.

You took one of the loudest (if not loudest) catbacks and deleted the cats on it and are now surprised by how loud it is? Lol

It honestly sounds like a POS Chevy now. All tinny and pingy. I researched the same system on YouTube and I guess the video did NO justice for the actual sound of Satan coming threw the ground. Cops will be called, tickets will be written.

I wanted the extra power but it doesn't seem like it's worth it.

Got the stock mufflers there, that might tone it down enough.....when they say ATAK, they do mean ATTACK on the eardrums.

GT500s FTW, again....

Borla Stingers.
Rarely do videos do exhaust systems justice. I can tell you my systems sound like crap compared to in person.

I put an off road H pipe on mine with the pypes "pype bomb" catback. It's pretty damn loud and I like that but I think my exhaust sounds like **** now when I'm getting ready to really hit the gas. Idk if it's the chambered design of the exhaust or what but I'm thinking about switching to another one

Will the gt500s tame that sound enough to justify the swap?

I only have a few months to go til my inspection sticker is out! Offroad H sitting storage waiting, at least my GT500 mufflers are on.
I may have the stock cats cut off and "put on" the offroad H for their visual inspection. I forget how many cops live my neighborhood... 4+ sounds about right.

Recently did cat deletes with my RTR exhaust and it was loud! Swapped over to the GT500s and has a sound similar to an actual GT500. Very tamed and loud when you want it to be. You won't be attracting any cops if you put the GT500 axlebacks.

Kudos to grabber12 for being considerate to those he shares his neighborhood with, and deciding to tone down the noise.

I always hollow out my cats and put them back on, its only a visual inspection here in Missouri though.

This is why I have always been and will be a fan of high flow cat mid pipes.

It takes you to that next level - without crossing the line into obnoxious territory.

It's a very aggressive yet controlled sound, and tends to be unique to boot since most people are:

A.) Thinking strictly about performance and want an offroad pipe
B.) Don't want to spend the extra $$$ on highflow cats

A pipe with highflow cats will not smell and you won't have to worry about tripping emissions sensors on the car. (for the most part)

The sound is also not gurgly, raspy, poppy, tinny, or sound like audio diarrhea being emitted from your exhaust. With highflow cats your exhaust note will contain a lot of bass as opposed to the hollow sound an offroad pipe produces.

Just my 2 cents and personal preference. No offense intended for offroad crowd.

I was looking at the high flow cats but here in CA we have some strict smog guidelines and I would hate to not pass smog after I pay for the high flows. Anyone in CA know if high flows pass out here?

You will fail visual inspection and may or may not pass smog.

I guess I'm confused, how were you planning on passing inspections with an off-road pipe? (swap in swap out method?)

In PA I wouldn't even consider removing the cats. Since I will never ever race. Having written that, I'm shocked how loud my 2015 is with the Ford Racing X-Pipe and the Borla TOURING axle back mufflers. Maybe because I have a convertible I notice the sound idk.

I do love the sound. The video clips on YouTube don't really capture it.

I have offroad xpipe with res deletes and muff deletes on rest of stock pipe. I think a lot of people hate on it before they hear it. So saying that, anyone in the metro detroit area is welcome to message me and we can see if we can get together for you to hear it. Yes it is loud, especially on start up in my garage, but mellows down. I have gotten many people wanting me to rev or thumbs up. Most of my neighbors also dont mind but I usually dont drive like an *** everywhere. I would put up audio put it is terrible from my camera and phone wouldnt any better. On the highway at 70 the drone is noticeable but I manage and dont mind it, 75 and up its not even a slight bother. My gf is sensitive to noises and hates them but she only hates my car on the startup mostly.

My car came with Flowmasters, thinking about putting the original mufflers back on, the Ford tips look better imo. As far as the exhaust system, keepin it as is, it doesn't need to be any louder.
